HI folks!

Thanks for all of your comments and Likes; which I enjoy very much.

Well, Shadow's journey continues. I've painted the underwater section of her hull a silver colour.  Why?  Because the real ship was built out of aluminium and I figured, that an aluminium looking under-hull would be fitting.  Besides, I have seen a few pictures of other mega yachts with silver coloured under-hulls and they looked stunning (well, to my eye, anyway).  Therefore, I'm kinda sticking with the current metallic colour scheme of gold above-water and silver underwater.  I'll add a black water-line later on.

I've also laid the individually planked wooden decks tonight.  They still require sanding and trimming, but hey, as with the whole model, there's still a bucket load more work to go!

I hope you enjoy the photos.

Cheers

Patrick

Patrick, most of us would say it's just about finished, and a lovely boat she is.  But I know that, for you, this is just the start and I can hardly wait to see all the minute details that are to come.

Hi Bob - many thanks and yep, you're right, there's still a bucket load more to go. Thanks for the compliment!

Looking good Patrick. I do like the silver bottom. The waterline stripe will really set things off.

Hi Frank - many thanks. The selection of gold and silver paints was pretty risky to use because they're not very common, but I'm glad I've settled upon using them. You're right, also, about the black waterline. It'll really add a touch of class to the hull.

All the best, guys!

Cheers

G'day Patrick

Shadow is gunna be a very classy looking ship. I wish I had the money to buy one myself!

The way that you have joined the decking together even now, shows us all how accurate your model is and is going to be.

Can't wait for your creative decking layouts to come and all those 'touches' you do.

Thanks Greg!

I must admit to also being pretty pleased with how Shadow's turning out.  As I mentioned earlier on in this Log, there's actually been no major stuff ups, with her construction, so far.  Mmmmm, that's definitely not like me, as I'm usually more accustomed to more stuff-ups than positives, but, hey, I'm not complaining.

Have a great week.

Cheers

Hello Patrick,

I agree with Bob's post above - most of us would feel it's just about done.  I'm still trying to get my head around the tiny tiny details you put on Majellan.  I'll be watching for sure.

Hi Gary

Many thanks and I appreciate your comments.

Majellan was not only a lot of fun, but a really steep learning curve as well. Thankfully, many of the lessons learnt have been applied with Shadow's build. I guess that accounts for Shadow's relatively trouble free journey.

Have a great week!

Cheers

Very nice work Patrick! She looks great on the water! Too bad she won't float when you're done, though I personaly wouldn't float any model of mine unless it was rc, I'd be too scared :(!

Yep, I get ya.  It is kinda scary risking your boat in the water.  Better to be safe, than sorry.

Have a great week.

good looking yacht Patrick !!

Hi Nils

Many thanks!  I'm really enjoying building Shadow. Not only is she sleek, but, she also has style and pizzaz. But...then again, I'm biased because, I also reckon she's a good looker.

Have a great week.

nice progress Patrick.........looking really nice   :)

Hi Denis - thanks.  She's coming along rather nicely, I must say.  Sadly, time is scarce as our house is in a state of upheaval because the painters are going through the whole house.  Hopefully, things will get back to normal soon, so that I can start building again.

Hi Patrick

What a great job you are doing on your Yacht Shadow, I had to look twice as I thought that you had snuck in a picture of the real Shadow, she sure looks great sitting on the water among all of that greenery. Your detail is out of this world, so very real life like, WELL DONE,                                            ENJOY.

Regards   Lawrence

Hi Lawrence - Thanks and I have to admit that I also really like those water shots, as well.  Shadow is really starting to look nice now.  Kinda like all 'grown up' with her new colour scheme :).

Cheers

Hi Lawrence and Pete (and everyone who hit the Like button)

Happy New Year!!! Thanks for looking in. Our house is a complete mess as we're having it painted inside and out throughout. Sadly, as a result, I haven't had much time to work on Shadow.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to things once the painters have gone.

Well, that's the plan...

Have a great year!

Cheers

Finally caught up with your outstanding build Patrick. Awesome progress.  That silver bottom better be a saltwater protection coating because aluminum doesn't like saltwater very much. It's called corrosion ;)  But you knew that.

Gwen and I wish you and your family a very prosperous and healthy 2017 with much enjoyment with your builds.

Cheers,

Thanks Piet!

Happy New Year to both you and Gwen. I hope you're both fit and healthy and staying out of trouble.

Thanks also for the tip about the silver paint. I didn't know that, but now that I do, I'll have to make doubly sure that it provides the right coverage to protect the hull. I did, ahem, fail chemistry at school...(sigh)..

On a more serious note, it's great to hear from you. I was beginning to worry because you've been so quiet (and busy, no doubt), lately.

All the best

Hi folks

I haven't had much time to devote to Shadow over the past few weeks, so... progress has been pretty slow.

A very quick update:  So far, I've only managed to set out the bulkheads on the Sun Deck's accommodation and the tender garage below decks.  I know it all looks pretty rough at this early stage, but at least it's a start.

All the best for 2017, everyone!

Cheers

Patrick

Well it doesn't look "pretty rough" to me Patrick - it looks pretty darn nice.  So tiny, intricate and crisp.  I'm curious  - are you using a mix of materials?  Some card stock, some styrene?  Keep the photos coming.
