  • 3 weeks later...

Getting close to the finish now, ordered the 8x8x8 display case to mount her in.

Here is a pic that shows the ribband being glued in place, the temp spacers were already cut out of the framing which is why im using a temporary clamping measure to stop anything moving.

Ribband was drilled and bamboo treenails were inserted all the way into the frames for strength.

Keelson was cut and installed, again using bamboo treenails into the floor frames for strength.

The top timbers above the gunport is what I'am working on now, when complete I have to do some final sanding and add finish and its done. :D

Wonderful job on the cross-section, Ben. But you don't have to be finished. We have posted several updates on our website to fit her out if you're so inclined.

Hi Greg and Druxey,

Thanks and I know I could do more but this version is to be a pure framing exhibition, I really like the bare bones look and nothing there to distract from that. Maybe I will build another at some point but it really has given me the experience I was looking for in the framing dept and next in line is a fully framed Pegasus following TFFM!

I shall update when completed and in her case.

Beautiful work Ben. Congrats on completion. I too wish you had gone further, but I can readily understand your desire to move on to the complete build.I look forward to that.

Thanks Bob, Chris, Druxey, Mark and Grant for looking in and your warm comments.

As for those inquiring minds, next job is to finish the little bit of rigging left on the longboat to complete it and get it in its case as well.

Then I will continue with the Confederacy, while making the build board, lots of clamps and fixtures for the Pegasus build.

I don't expect to do anything on the Pegasus until well into the new year, so by that time I should of completed the gundeck and stuff on the Confed, then I will work on both side by side as I need a rest/change during builds.

See you all in the other side, the dark side of me has to sleep for a while.

Thanks Jim and Augie, and everybody else for following this build log, without MSW I doubt I would have made it this far, great people here!

Now to start tearing my current workshop apart and rebuilding it to a true bespoke dockyard for the work to come! :-)

Hi Ben, I’m glad to see that you have finished her.Very nicely done and it looks really great in the display case.

See you all in the other side, the dark side of me has to sleep for a while.

Another point about switching back and forth between the “dark side” and the light is you could become deficient

in Vitamin D if you stayed on the dark side too long! ;)  :P  :D  B)

Thanks Rusty, I hope you get back to your Echo when the big bomb is finished, I want to see what you do to yours!

I can tell you though that when the Confed is completed I very much doubt I will make another mass produced kit again, the dark side will swallow me completely ;-)
