Is there some way to control which topics are shown when using the activity feature?  I tried to select the topics I am interested in however that does not seem to work, and if it does it appears that I have to make the selections every time I log in..

To clarify, there are many topics that I am not interested in and would prefer not seeing those whenever I click on unread content.  I was able to do that somehow with the old system but cannot determine how to do it with the new system.

Thanks,

Paul

Yes there is but you were going about it in the opposite way.   Basically you need to click "follow" on the build logs and topics you ARE interested in.   Then when you click on "unread content" you can filter it by only those topics you follow.

We have now installed an ignore topic feature.   This will NOT remove the topic from view when you enter any forum area.  BUT it will remove it from any of your activity streams.

So, are you tired of those topics you have no interest in that have dozens of posts in one day ?

This feature will allow you to ignore topics. Ignored topics won't appear in Activity Streams or search results.

Members can manage their ignored topics on Accounts Settings.  Just click the red button after you enter any topic you wish to ignore.

Chuck and admin,

Since we can't delete a reply anymore, would it be possible to apply this feature to a reply instead?

Just wondering.B)

I never use the follow feature........it would cause a back up in my e-mail.   I used the customs feature in the forums.  I'd select topics I replied to,  and lock it.......every time I went in there,  I would see all the logs that I follow.  now that feature is gone.

Hey Popeye when you follow a log now you get the option to choose to not receive any notifications. It's the last option (other than following anonymously).  You can now follow everything you want without getting any email backups.

Oh and you can change all of your old notification preferences as well. I just changed over all of my weekly notifications to not receive any.

I really like the flexibility of the activity streams now. It may take a sec to set up exactly how you like it but it really is a much nicer system now.  Many more customization features.

Thanks for all the hard work Chuck, James and all the Admins who spend countless hours enriching our site!

Please forgive my ignorance but I need a little hand holding here.

Back to my original question and your response.

Per your suggestion I went to each of the topics I am interested in and indicated "following" with no notifications.

When at the home page. exactly what steps should I be taking to only show those topics I am following.

When I click on "content I follow" on the upper right it takes me to a page titled "Content I follow"  and says showing all content I follow, but it shows only content where I have posted since the conversion.  What I would like to see is any unread posts in only all of the topics I am following.

Thank for your patience.
