I tried to blacken the brass by ammonia. Firstly i kept the brass in amonnia for 2 hours and then i heated it up by the flame of a lighter. That's the result :)

Nice work Mustafa abi. :) I want to ask a question about the Tung oil. I'm from Turkey too. I also bought the Tung oil from the same brand.

(%100 Doğal Pruva Tung Yağı) But when I used it on some wood for trial, (maun - mahogany) I saw that it had a terrible bad smell and it didn't dry for months.

Not at all...

Did you dilute it?

I heard that I should dilute it with turpentine (terebentin).. %50 tung oil + % 50 turpentine..

If it has a bad smell, what will you do?

Thanks..

Thank you Onering. Nice to meet you. No i did not dilute it. I applied 3 coats of oil on the model and drying of each coat took around 3 days. Probably because humidity in the city (Kayseri) where i live in is quite low, drying did not take long time. I heard about diluting oil with turpentine too. I think this could solve your problem.

The model itself does not smell bad but the cotton cloth, that you use for applying oil, smells really bad if you keep it in the room. Wash or remove the cloth.

Have a good day,

Mustafa

Hello Mustafa,

I just discovered your build log, well done. Can you tell us what wood you used for the deck planking? I like the look of it in post #16.

Thank you Bruce. I really don't know what wood it is. It is just wooden stick for stirring tea or coffee :)

Very nice job you are doing there Mustafa. Looking good. Congrats!!!

Approaching the end... aren't you excited?

What will be your next project?

Best wishes

Ulises

There aren't but two options: do it FAST, or do it RIGHT.

Current Project Build Log: Soleil Royal in 1/72. Kit by Artesania Latina.

Last finished projectsRoyal Ship Vasa 1628; French Vessel Royal Louis 1780. 1/90 Scale by Mamoli. 120 Cannons

Future projects already in my stash: Panart: San Felipe 1/75; OcCre: Santísima Trinidad 1/90;

Wish List: 1/64 Amati Victory, HMS Enterprise in 1/48 by CAF models.

So much to build, so little time!
