Hi John, glad to see you're back!  Hope you had a nice trip.  Your Morgan looks fantastic - I was able to visit her a month ago, and can't wait to start building her.

Looking forward to checking out your website.  That sounds like a very handy one-stop-shop for all things Morgan related.  Thanks for doing that!

Hi Mike, I'd love to see you get started with your CWM. The one stop site is what I'm trying to accomplish. I hope it will be helpful to those that attempt to build her. Glad you got to visit her, must have been after she returned from Boston. You mike like this picture.

Gorgeous picture John.  You're right, I did visit her after she returned.  I'll have to find my pictures and send them to you in case you want others.  I tried taking a lot of pictures of the deck items and the outside, but at the same time had to keep an eye on my 4-year old who loved running around the "pirate ship."

Hello Lawrence, good to hear from you. It's good to be back. Updates to be posted soon. Great picture isn't it? At sea at last, and ironically a Humpback Whale sounded along side her shortly after that picture was taken....together "in Peace"...swimming and playing.

Hi Popeye, thanks for dropping by. I've been going to post on "the gang" will they be ready for Christmas? Yes, I will be resuming this log as soon as I can get back to work. My website has been taking my time right now, but it is getting closer to be finished as we speak. It should be done in a few more days and hopefully can resume ship building. Some big announcements coming soon.

Hello Texan 5:

You mention a product that I would like to buy.  Perhaps you can help me to locate a source.  The product is "TESSTOR'S GREEN GLUE".  You used it to secure the copper tape to the MORGAN.  I can not seem to find a source on line, or locally.  Any suggestions?

The question of where to find the Testor's Green Glue has come up before, and since many of us don't have local hobby stories nearby we tend to shop online for these type of products. I have this product available on my website for anyone in need on the Tools & Resource page. Here's the link for convenience.

Here's another great shot of the Morgan undersail with a Humpback Whale sounding. Ironic isn't it. A Whaling Ship that hasn't sailed since 1941 is at sea just off the coast of Connecticut on her first voyage since restoration with a whale along side....sailing together In Peace....

Hello John, welcome aboard and glad you're enjoying the build. I'll be back to work shortly. My website has been taking a lot of time, but hopefully it will be pretty complete by the end of the weekend. I'm anxious to start rigging her. I have a lot of good photographs to make sure I get it right. Stay tuned.

  • 2 weeks later...

Good Day Mate's. Today I am opening the shipyard again. I got the tools out, dusted her off and documented whre I'm at to get this thing rolling again. First thing I'll takle will be to replace the anchors. The one's I had were black Britttania and they should be wood. So I've dusted off the Proxxon DB 250 Wood Lathe, and tomorrrow will get them turned, stained and hung on the ship. I have the black metal ones there temorarily as seen in the pictures. From here, then it will be to build the Foremast.

First, the pictures of where I'm starting from:

I was struck by the sharpness of your white trim around the hull, particularly since you had to zig and zag around a lot of projections. Any tricks to how you did it or was it just a matter of taping it off with lots of trimming and adjusting?

Hi Tim, welcome aboard. The white trim was tricky, but there was no masking involved. This was done slowly with a fine brush. It takes a steady hand and also 2 coats. Any screw ups I had would be followed with black paint to cover it up. I used the Model Shipways paints which are kinda thick and did not dilute them. I'm not sure I could have gotten masking tape to work here and it would take a lot of it and much more work. Hope this helps. Some of the photos of these stages might be missing on this log. My website has many more photos of these steps in the build logs if needed.

Hi Mike, a good Single Malt Scotch works pretty good. But seriously, in 2008 I had a brain aneurysm and a stroke spent 36 days in ICU and died twice. After my second death, I letterally walked out of the hospital 4 days later and the Dr. couldn't even prescribe an asprin for me. Oddly enough the only repurcussions I had from it was that my dexterity improved tremendously and my hands do not shake at all....great for modeling....sorry long answer for a complex statement...lol. Glad to be here my friend, and thanks for the comments.
