My first carving experiment

My sister and her husband on their first Christmas together bought a live tree and planted it at our old homestead some 20 years ago. The tree became a hazard and i had to cut it down. I felt bad about it, and saved some log sections from it which were slowly drying in my basement for a couple years. I finally did something with a piece of it, making a small fir tree out of the big one. My first attempt at this type of carving. I was quite happy with how it went. Roghed out the cone on the band saw and belt sander, the let fly with the dremel and hoped for the best. It made her a wonderful gift.20171216_144620.thumb.jpg.264270e6503fc4c37f0b12c4e0e95965.jpg20171216_163315.thumb.jpg.e354acd69b110fd109873eb9bc52ff50.jpg20171217_142728.thumb.jpg.4d0d574d3ac8b9b7b9cd47e8b3e233d5.jpg20171217_153845.thumb.jpg.9646320000d02d0f2675b234a970aa67.jpg20171217_214934.thumb.jpg.ee16421c2405aeb2c756c010e2603be6.jpg
