No since in degrading the model just to use up the brass! It it is too small to be handled then it is probably too small to be seen and is little more than a brass blob and if painted over in a more traditional model would be missed all together. Don't shortchange yourself. You have already enhanced the model considerably with your work, even if you have not used every part available. It would offer the greatest view position and the most direct position for the controls themselves. As for the assemble itself.... WOW!! What a difference the PE parts make. I really don't think I will do PE pompoms again. I saw somewhere where someone makes resin and PE pompoms for 1/700 scale ships that have 100+ parts, including metal barrels.
