HMS King George V by RGL - FINISHED - Tamiya - 1/350

Eyes open Cog!

I spend the day shaving off the modified boat deck deck to make it a boat deck. By 1945 this was an AA platform and the catapult area between the superstructures was the boat deck.

Pontos gives you a nice brass shim to cover this area up. I’ve shaved a mil of the edge so I can add individual rail stanchions.

The white plasric is a splinte shield added instead of railing in 1943 with som gussets for support. There will be two 20mm cannons behind them.

Lots of doors and a few ringols too. I sought an extra few sets of RN doors as Pontos never really provides enough of them.

There are about 8 carley floats, three cable drums and 2 booms to go. I can then move upwards towards the mast.

Well, as long as do not need to keep them open all night, because you are shaving something ... doing a fine job, whilst you keep your mind on it, and do not bother to much about me watching you ...

Greg , in the last photo above there appears to be a small drill  with a drill bit (orange disc on bit) , is that a hand drill or power drill (battery or line cord) ?

What brand Grag?  I've not seen one that will take those drill bits. I have those same drill bits but they only fit my Dremel, or the WeCheer micro drills (corded and battery) - - 1/8 inch shaft ?

I think he's run out of batteries, Denis ... far to silent for The Man From Downunder (something like the Man From Snowy River :D )  Have you noticed he uses the wrong letters: RGL => MFD

2 games of rugby watched this morning, then some time on the tools.

This rear section will have 12 carley floats, some able drums and 2 stored boom davits. The kit carley floats just don’t cut it so I’ve replaced them.

The camoflague runs throught this area so I’ll paint them off kit as to whichever section they fall into.

Multiple stair sets folded and readly for paint. I’m now working on a rear gun director platform that is going to need a fair bit of bashing.

Three young rugby players in the household? :)  my boys turned to the dark side (Aussie Rules).  Rowing and Rugby, that must keep you busy so how do you find the time for all these models (especially at the rate you complete them ;) )

Yes, son number 2 played 2 games, his team is undefeated so far this season then he had to play up a grade as they were short handed and they got flogged. Son number 1 won their first game this season and daughter had a bye.

I remember those days when our two sons were on two soccer teams and we had to figure out how to make two games on opposite sides of town at the same time!:default_wallbash: Can't imagine how you do it with three players!

You're making those plastic blobs look'n really nice Greg.  What cement are you using to stick the PE to those blobs?

I use three types of CA, depending on the piece, the slow, medium and fast. If it needs to be adjusted I’ll use slow, but if it needs to be joined with very little movement I’ll use fast dropped on with an acupuncture needle.
