SMS Seydlitz by Canute, Cog, Stein Gildberg & RGL - FINISHED - Hobbyboss - 1/350 - PLASTIC

Recommended Posts

This is a shot of the Von Der Tan looking forward towards other battlecruisers with Seydlitz in the lead.

Notice the side railings are all are all folded down and there are a mass of ropes and cleats for the anti torpedo net rigging.

I am still pondering how I’m going to replicate this on the deck.

Looking at the last photo the with the anti-torpedo nets out, wonder if that ever made fishing off the deck any easier?

Nope, your hook would get stuck in the netting.

Pictures make things even more complicated with the torpedo nettings, Greg ... I really am curious as how you will tackle this problem

Next are the trestles for the ship’s boats which go amidships. Skylights and cable reels. There are 4 sets of bollards which are not supplied by Infini and it is expected to use the kit ones on the plastic deck but there are very recessed into the deck once the wooden one is added. As such I used 1/700 battleship bollards which are the exact size.

Next will I’ll be the ship’s boats.

When possible I painted them on the sprue, or if I'm lucky, the attachement holes for the cables to the davits. On BlueTack I find it a pain: Needs painting twice to cover primer, and after that for the colour. Next time I'll try stickin' a sewing pin in the bottom

I can just drill a tiny hole in the keel then insert a needle. I’m not sure yet.....

I use cocktail sticks for these like this, and the beauty of being wooden you can even sand them thinner if need, blue tack on the other end and there you have a little base to hold items clear and upright while you paint or wait to use them.

ship's boats look awesome Greg........I use the sprue method,  like Carl,  when painting as much as I can.   the only drawback is flash.......trimming and cleaning the part before painting can null that thought out real quick ;)

Thought you would ... spread it out ... Another holiday!? It seems I keep on postponing any advance on Seydlitz. Just finished a 60 hr working week. My hands seem to miss the immovability require for the job at present. Very frustrating, as I would like to finish the RCN Destroyer too.
