Black Pearl by Old Collingwood - FINISHED - 1/72 Scale

I am sorry to say, but a complete deal, extractions and dentures, would run around $3000 and up depending on the number of teeth that needed extraction and the quality of the denture appliances. Sometimes, there are dental clinics, even dental colleges, who offer discount prices. It requires a specialty to sedate the patient. A standard dentist cannot do it. That's one reason it's so much more expensive.

Puts me out of the equation then.

So later  - I will finish the main mast ratlines, give it a coat of paint then fit the futtock shrouds to the top  before fitting it to the mast.

If unfinished projects is now the gauge for longevity, then I am pretty certain I am destined to live forever!

Add the taxes they charge me each year that they would miss if I'm gone and I am almost certain the Government will keep my body functioning as long as it is less expensive than letting me die, even if I only exist as a vegetable. I am almost certain that I am the sole source of revenue for some program or another out there!

Oh I have no shortage of excuses!

The latest is a doozie, I will probably be able to milk it for a few months at least.

But then if I was making headway on my own builds then I would have less time to follow the fantastic builds you guys are doing and I am so jealous of. Right now I am content on watching my betters produce works of quality that I am following in spirit rather than trying to match in person. Hopefully things will settle down by the end of summer or sooner and some other crisis will not appear from nowhere and distract my building desires further.

Not something to like, American gents, do not try to compare the US system to the British. What works at your side of the pond, often doesn't on this side, same goes for legal actions.

OC did you smoke or still do? I had the same problem as you had due to smoking, and had my teeth pulled as it was the only way to get rid of the recidivist abcesses I had. Lost a lot of my jaw's bone structure as well because I postponed it to long. Do not wait to long

Not really trying to compare, at least not in my case. Other than to say that our "new" system is not really any good for the majority of people, especially those at the lower income level that it is supposedly designed for. Now days instead of not being covered, all to much of the coverage offered is ineffective as it does not cover the things it should. This is especially true with the dental coverage available both through Government and private sources.

Evening all,   so I decided to to have a go at the rest of the ratlines on the mainmast - I completed them  and also attached the futtock shrouds to  the masttop deadeyes,  I then fixed the masttop inlpace and tied the futtock shrouds to the shrouds.

Just the one pic.

Good day all,   some more good progress  on the pearl  - I worked on the foremast yard placement ropes/blocks, these were lashed to the forecastle bulwarks - then connected to the yard blocks  and tied/glued back down to the bulwarks.

I took her outside for a few pics -

Good day all  another good day  - I decided to make the footropes on the lower foreyard, I know they have one support in the middle each side, and as I wanted this to be straight and hang down correctly,  so I tried some fine fuse wire  - I wrapped this arround the yard then twisted it together in tight twists and left the two end loose,  I then attached som fine thread around the opposing side of the yard,  then twisted the ends of the fuse wire around the thread  and tied the ends and dabbed some ca to lock it.

I made sure it had some sag and touched up the fuse wire  - I think it looks ok.

I have also been working on the main - foremast upper stay, I constructed the two double blocks and lashed them in the center  - then I lashed the stay around the foremast tops  and fitted the blocks,   It will be swung around and attached to the rest of the stay when the mainmast upper section is made and fitted.

Nice work, OC.

Where do you acquire your fuse wire? I love keeping stuff like that fuse wire on hand...it always comes in handy for modeling projects.

I often strip all the wires out of old appliances and computers to later strip away the insulation and use the stranded wire inside for similar things as you are doing here.

We have a household store over here called Wilko  down the tool section they have plugs - extention leeds  and little cards of fuse wire that comes in three ratings, I use the thinest  think its 3amp.
