Just been re re reading my build  - I really  can not get my head round all the interest it created  - I am so humbled by it - how a plastic kit can turn into such a taliking point  is  simply amazing  - it  shows what an amazing site we  share here.

Fantastic build sir!  Your thread offers a plethora of information and advice which is greatly appreciated.   I just ordered the Zvezda Pearl kit and cannot wait to dive into this build.  My aspirations are to add a few flickering LED's to the lower decks, Capt's quarters, & the three aft lanterns.

May I ask what is the thickness of the planking you used on your deck?   Also, it appears Gator Glue isn't readily available in the States and I wonder if Gorilla Glue is a compatible substitute?  I think it would be but checking with the expert(s) on this one.

Again, well done sir !

Thank you so much  for those very kind words,  I replied to you request by PM   (sorry  I have only just seen this post).

Looking forward to following you build  - you must send me the link to it  - lighting it up will look fabulous  - I bottled out doing that,  it creates so many scenes from the films you could  create   - only immagination is the limitation.

Nearly forgot   - dont foreget,   like i did  put wood dowel reinforcements  inside the masts  (they have a cavity inside them)   and if  you can try to make the yard arms  from dowel  as it will make them stronger for when you rig the ship.

Evening all,   I had a  look  at  my  Pearl  earlier  while  dusting my  unit  -  and  I thought  of an idea  as  she  has collected  a  bit of dust,   so  it got me thinking of an idea  -   I might  clean  the  decks  a bit  but leave the  dust on the  riging  and  do a  flat  top coat  spray  to   flaten the  sheen  even more  and  to  lock in the dust  on the  riging,  I might even  do a  wee  bit more  of a wash   as I have  gotten more  into  that  with  my Waterloo dio  build  -  they  say  we are  forever  Improving.

I have been looking  over all  my  build  pics  -  as  my  idea  was to  try to  post some  improved edits  from them,  but I feel  the  figures let  them down  as  the  Mars  figures are really crude  -  I am sure  there  is  better   figures out there  these days   with  all  the new tech in our  hands  now.

Surprisingly, there are not better figures at this scale

I am assuming copyright infringement law is a big issue in stopping production of film based figures

But your figures modified well….I agree they would be easier if just cast/printed in resin or styrene and not that ABS snot they used

Scott and OC, I think that both of you did a great job with your figures despite the limitations of the plastic.  The modifications really make them work well.  I am in the process of painting just 5 figures right now that were included in my Spanish Galleon kit, and modifying them to work out well in the cabins and helm has been a painstaking process.  And that is just modifying them before painting, which is another thing altogether at such a small scale.  I won't give up, but it is going slowly.  I have the deepest respect for both of your work when I see the results of your figures.

Hi there  all,   I  decided  to  have  another   mess about with  my  photo  files  -  so  in  my Lightroom  I  cropped  a   few  then  lifted  the light  levels  added some   contrast  -  Black  levels  -  Colour  and  reduced  the  High lights   then I sent them into  my  Topaz   de noise   before  saving back into  Lightroom  where they had some  selective  sharpening  and  saved  back into my files.

Hope  you  enjoy.
