Did  some extra detail (rope)on the belaying pins.
These have become almost invisible, so they were made of a simple round plastic strip.

New swivel guns have also been made, simple made cannons but better than the one in the kit.

To have a tapered effect parts of stretched sprue are used.

The swivel gun supports on the rear deck are made too high. The guns are so high in relation to a person that they are only suitable for use as AA guns... or to shoot at seagulls ;)

This is where the build of this model ends.

Friends of ours bought this kit for the kids, forgot about it in the attic, and then it almost ended up in the bin.
To be built later by someone who only has experience with plastic military models
Overall, I am satisfied with this little model it gave me many hours of building pleasure

To bring some life into this diorama.
An inspector from the Royal Navy listens to what the shipbuilder has to say about the ship, before it is approved for service

It probably didn't work that way at the time, but these 2  figures supplied with the kit were very suitable for this setup

Any chance for adding some Tahitian girls in your diorama 😜 ?

If I now add Tahiti ladies... then we have a party and then there may not even be a launch of the ship 🤣

Excellent project finished Patrick, you have worked miracles on a kit I built as a child, I didn't put the same amount of detail on it though. It's been an absolute joy to watch.

Patrick, congratulations on this amazing build — you packed so much realistic detail into this small scale, and it has been an inspiration for my own plastic ship build.  Your skill and precision are exemplary!

Excellent small diorama! Just two figures, a small crate, small blueprint and it tells a full story in the shipyard. First i was skeptic about the dull colors and rusted copper, but now all has meanings. Congratulations Patrick!

Hope you fully recovered now from C19?

Thank you

Just two figures, a small crate, small blueprint and it tells a full story in the shipyard   (I made an attempt to put a bottle and 2 cups on the crate. But on a scale of 1/110 it did not work out very well)

Dull colors and rusted copper...  (Once a military modeller, always a military modeller ;) )

No more big covid problems, but still tired quickly

Glad to hear that you are getting better Patrick. Scary stuff.

Your added mini diorama goes to show something about ships that I have always found interesting.

Looking at them when they are sitting high and dry in drydock they look HUGE. Seeing them tied up alongside a dock they can look large, especially when they are square rigged with all of the tall masts and long yardarms. But seeing them, (Or being on board) while at sea with no land in sight, especially in rough weather even the largest ship looks all too tiny.

Spectacular model, Patrick. In some of the pictures, the model is so imposing that it is really difficult to tell that its scale is 1/110.

I noticed that you are used to paint with Tamiya acrylic paints. I understood you apply them by brush. If yes, how do you manage that? I largely use them, but only by airbrush. In other builds of yours, I have seen that you brush them also on wood with quite realistic results. Also in that case, how do you do that?

Again, my compliments for a very nice and very credible model.

Best regards,

Dan.

Well, I'm a little very old fashioned. I don't have an airbrush. Simply the old methods. painting, dry brushing and a washing with thinned paint.

On plastic

Paint with thinned paint, Let  dry, polish with scotch brite  (post 129)

Have this one in a stash put away for when I have the time. (Home schooling 2 kids leaves very little free 😞 )

Your fantastic build will be used as inspiration for it.
