So it appears that we probably won't be seeing a 1/32 Akron, Macon, or Los Angeles coming from your shipyard any time soon have you kept the Sparrowhawk out? We don't see too many 1930s Naval fighter builds. I agree the prewar colors are kind of neat. I have a 1/72 Sikorsky S-43 (JRS-1) that could be done in the same colors. Or as a Pan Clipper, or................?????:o

One of the hangars at Lakehurst was used to train the deck handlers for carrier ops. Back in the 50s, traveling down to the Jersey Shore, we'd see blimps floating in and out of the naval air station.

That was in Hanger One...I think it was 3/4 scale, but large enough to fit real birds on it...crazy to see, there are probably some old yellow shirts out there that remember

Oh......Popeye the Punster Strikes Again.😂😂

Nice work J. the repair and everything look great.

Mark, those hangers are still there, every time we drive down to San Diego (a 4+ hour drive each way these days) I think about that story of the F4 pilots. Side note, apparently it is now a court marshal offense to fly under the Golden Gate Bridge.

The nose doesn't line up as well as it did in post 45 nor is the paint as nice...the nose dives and subsequent repairs took their toll...

this may be my favorite view.  The bumper and taillights are scratch items...plastic tube cover in home-brew metal foil, tails are red sprue backed with the same foil...

and the end

Thanks to all who followed along and participated in this log...not sure what's up next, I really should get back to the Hanna but the Sparrowhawk needs to see some bench time too...either way I'll post my decision and an appropriate link here.

THANKS again, all you guys kicking in makes it fun

I'm with CDW.  She has the appearance and stance of one that's been down the track a few times which to me, doesn't detract at all.   Those rail frames were known to twist, usually the first full power run would do it.

Hi J

Another nice build. I have a question on the headlights though.

I am pretty much clueless when it comes to anything dragster beyond the fact that the driver hits the GO button and pretty much keeps it there until the car appears at the other end. Are the red headlights some requirement for the class, or just decoration? Either way they kind of add evil intent with the black paint job.

Hi Lou...working headlights were a requirement for gassers, but coloring them was not...that was just something a lot of teams did some would also tint the windscreens...glad you like the effect

she's done! :)   in spite of all the problems you had,  she looks great!  the reddish headlights.........you can call her The Werewolf;)   these bodies were perfect to base a gasser on........the pug rear quarters is the defining touch.   really nice looking car 👀 🏁

I've gotten two kits that sported the reddish tinted glass.......still got 'em in the spare parts box I started  :)
