Sapphire by Omega1234 - 1/388 scale - Mega-yacht 66m (8 inch hull length)

Recommended Posts

Hi Patrick, it is tough keeping up with the speed at which you build these tiny mega yachts. I'm wondering if this one would look even more stunning if the hull was painted with a lower sheen, The only reason I say that is because we can scale down the model but we often do not scale down the high gloss at the same time.   I know we cannot scale nature but we can scale our perception of it.

Super model as always.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this Build Log, but Sapphire’s really coming along nicely.

Here’s some photos of where things are at so far.

All the best and stay healthy!

Hi Patrick.  I've been out of commission from a modeling standpoint for quite a while due to moving to a 'new' home, and have been off the forum for over a month.  I was happy to see your recent entry on my first time back - she looks great!  Well done.

Welcome back Patrick. I missed you and on more than a few occasions wondered what you were up to. What a lot of cabins she has and all so nicely fitted out. At least this one looks like a boat.

Many thanks, Keith!

Yep...I’ve had a long break from MSW due to technical issues earlier on, but hopefully that’s all over now.  I’m going to catch up on everyone’s Build Logs over the next few days.

I hope you and your family and well and virus-free.

Cheers

Hi folks.

Well...against Sapphire’s future owner’s wishes, the Construction Boss of the shipyard snuck his friends on-board the boat today. ”How dare you! Look at them‘, said the owner in disgust. ‘They’re just lounging around, feet up on the new outdoor lounges. No respect for other people’s property. Hmmm! One would think they own the place!”

Needless to say, the Construction Boss is not in the good books at the moment!

I hope you like these photos. Pls be gentle on me, as these are the first time I’ve ever made figures for a boat. They’re pretty crude, but at least I tried!

Thanks

Patrick

Hello Patrick, it's good to see you back at the modeling bench.  You can sure pack an amazing amount of detail into your tiny models.  1:388 - good grief man!

Well considering that you're working at a sub-atomic level, they look darn good to me Patrick.  They must be less than 5mm tall if I am calculating that correctly!  I wouldn't even have the courage to try.

Sapphire is looking really great and I look forward to more updates.

Hi Gary

Thanks!  Yep...sub-atomic is a good way to think about it.  I must admit that the teeny tiny stuff really does my head in, sometimes, but it's all great fun nonetheless.  The figures are slightly bigger than the correct scale because it was the best I could do.  In actual fact, they're about 8 mm high (on average).

Thanks for the compliments and stay safe.

Cheers

Patrick

Yep, the party’s started early...I don’t think they were adhering to the new social-distancing rules, though!

Have a great week.

Hi folks. A quick update on the ‘illegal party‘ that’s been going on in Sapphire over the past week. Much to the owner’s consternation, the Construction Boss has invited even more of his mates on board. Have a look!!!

Disclaimer: no teeny tiny people were harmed during this photo shoot😏😏😏!

Hi folks!

Well...despite a lot of technical issues with trying to use MSW, I’m just going to bite the bullet and post this long overdue update of Sapphire.

For all intents and purposes, she’s just about 95% finished.  The addition of a display board, plus a few minor bits and pieces, will see her fully completed.

I hope you enjoy these photos!

Cheers

Patrick

Long time no see Patrick! Nice to have you back. Sapphire came out fantastic, too many lovely details, took a while but I finally figured out the two level engine room. Jewel of a model

Great to see you got past the issues, Patrick.   Sapphire is gorgeous.  I don't see more you can do except put her on a stand.  Or take her for a spin to nice island.
