They are in 1/192 scale and originate from the Archer Company in Toledo, OH from 1978. I will be putting the Victory on hold in the near future for this project. I am going to build her POB. The keel and bulkheads will be 1/4” plywood. The covering will likely be the leftover houghtboard that I used for the Prince de Neufchatel. The Edmund Fitzgerald was steel, so I’m not worried about planking detail. Plus 1/192 scale makes it difficult to put tiny details on anyways. I’ll start making sawdust in the near future (it depends on when I get to a hardware store). BenF89 Posted November 27, 2019 Share #4 Posted November 27, 2019 I am extremely excited to see this build! I’ve been scheming of doing my own 1:192 Fitz at some point. I have a set of general arrangements at that scale- a copy of the original builder drawing from 1958. I also have a midship section detail drawing. I had several more, but got rid of them cleaning out (after taking some pictures). I got the drawings as part of the research work I did on my senior thesis for my Naval Architecture degree, which reassessed one of the sinking theories using modern naval architecture tools. So, naturally, the ship and story are very dear to me. Can’t wait to follow along! I am currently gathering ideas and looking at other builds to try and prevent the warping and twisting that I have had in the past. I think that I am going to fill the gaps in the bulkheads with balsa this time. The covering is going to be card, so strength won't be an issue.
