The hatch framing has been tweaked and glued, so the false deck pieces were fitted and glued.

It was then I realised there was hump on the join between the bow sections and the midship ones😬😑

Very very carefully I detached the four pieces and set about the bulkheads with a sanding block. I'm putting this down to my initial cutting of the offending bulkhead.

Anyway the false deck is once again glued and happily flat.20230110_164057.thumb.jpg.f889d1982531cdaa7c79c54536e9134f.jpg

I've made all the coamings and also put together a couple of the gratings.

Those are another item I'm glad I decided to get from Chuck.

20230110_164143.thumb.jpg.97b620b8a6b53fc077577d3c79d9409c.jpg

The fittings all seem to line up on the centre line nicely.

I'll need to cut some planking strips in various widths to do the bulwarks.

Thanks for all your comments and likes, or just popping in. All interest is always and greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Nice progress, it’s great when you find things will fit like they’re supposed to. Definitely worth it to get the false deck in good and right. Well done.

Glenn

I decided to have a crack at making a couple of the gratings up20230111_222525.thumb.jpg.7cc48896dc2c5308415ef43381c0e5a2.jpg

these two are the result. I've sanded them as thin as I dare.20230111_222436.thumb.jpg.7c652ee558398d055a6e2a22259e0d9d.jpg

As most of you are doing or done, I'm going to paint the coamings black.

Thanks for all the likes, comments and calling by.

The gratings look nice, do your coatings account for the height of the deck planks?  They are well made for sure.

Glenn

Thanks Glenn,  with the coamings all I've done is remove the char.

I'm going to start planking the bulwarks next, once I've got some more strips cut.

I appreciate all the likes, comments and visits.

The bulwark internal planking has got me pulling what's left of my hair out! because of the tumblehome it's like trying to plank virtually upside down. But I'm slowly progressing, although I shall be glad when it's done.

I shall put some photos up when it is a bit tidier.

Thanks once again for your comments, likes and looking in.

Plodding on with the bulwarks 20230118_212714.thumb.jpg.0ca3d7aa2f71455e2936c78a36f80df1.jpg

I realised when I reached the bow that I still hadn't fitted the bollards, so the two I'd decided were the best of many I'd made were duly glued into place 20230118_212851.thumb.jpg.45809455946236793919731aa3948c1d.jpg

I'm not too bothered about the glue stains on the lower two planks as there is the second layer to fit.

Still have to do it all again on the opposite side.

Thank you all for your comments, visiting and the thumbs up.

Cheers

Good morning, I managed a couple of hours last night.

I gave all the coamings the first coat of black, and then returned to the bulwarks. 20230120_213924.thumb.jpg.d44304bb63846a4e9c5b8c0dad26a9ae.jpg

The starboard side deck clamp was glued on after much tweaking of its position. The aftmost notch being just above the window head.20230120_213705.thumb.jpg.790fa435a26451610e1a61d453778800.jpg

Next was a dry fit of the cabin panels, with my fingers crossed,  that my initial measuring when framing the gunports, so long ago, was something close. I was dreading that they'd be so far out that I'd be unable to use the very nice panels.

Happily, with a touch of sanding here and there, it was OK.

These were then permanently fixed.

20230120_213816.thumb.jpg.ebcc3e99bfdf15e2dc58ec622d5fbb35.jpg

There is still lots to do, before getting down to the deck.

Thanks  for all the likes, comments and dropping by for a look.

Cheers

Thank you Andrew, kind of you to say, much of the credit for them must go to Chuck though, as his laser cut parts are fantastic, all I did was put them together 😊

Thank you Andrew, Glenn and Fred.

I'd like to keep the natural look on the panelling, so just a couple coats of WOP.

The bulwark planking is done,20230127_222109.thumb.jpg.5cd85fab43a1f16307cf8c868210548b.jpg

and with two coats of paint, the first was Admiralty paints Red Ochre, then a coat of tamiya flat red.20230127_222343.thumb.jpg.f6de7753f4b30df0646d04b26682f1c3.jpg

I used red ochre so the tamiya red wasn't too in your face red.

I also gave the coamings another coat of dull black, along with the main wales. The gratings have been given some WOP. 20230127_222331.thumb.jpg.09943ed05dbbfdc275c6f1a0523eaedf.jpg

the mast and capstan partners have been made up, detailing still to add.

Thanks for all your comments, likes and taking the time to look in👍

Although I’m kind of a RED guy, that’s a nice color shade you have for the bulwarks. It feels good completing that step and with the multiple layers and clamps no small feat. Well done!

Glenn

Thank you Glenn.

Made both ladders

20230128_211005.thumb.jpg.f79344ebcee0e2ddc2951649942318ff.jpg

they are lovely little projects and definitely worth taking time putting them together. 20230128_211104.thumb.jpg.fb428a71222a54cd62a370f317de3a5c.jpg

the single ladder is sanded and had a coat of poly. Larger one is waiting for the glue to dry.

Been to the library and printed the margin planks.

Cut out the sections to test them on Winnie. 20230128_210839.thumb.jpg.77e2d82785e23bec6bbcf311dbcadc77.jpg

With a bit of fettling they will be just right.20230128_214651.thumb.jpg.5da603cf165a65606027cc421ad7daaa.jpg

first starboard bow section cut out, and sanded to fit20230128_214709.thumb.jpg.b40d44b4e2a170c2bbddf391698bffc8.jpg

Tomorrow I shall attempt the others and try to match the scarph joints together.

As always thanks for the comments, likes and looking in. Everything is greatly appreciated.

Thank you Gary. Much credit to Chuck for excellent parts!

The rest of the margin planks have been made, tweaked and fitted. The cabin floor is dry fitted, the coamings and partners are temporarily glued to facilitate deck planking.

This is because I'm bound to damage them when sanding the deck planks.20230201_220822.thumb.jpg.2bc83f01e2b1a285a02f8ee5ddd51439.jpg

I've cut and placed the centre plank. Glue will follow when I'm completely happy withe the placement. 20230201_220840.thumb.jpg.50849ba6936c69263db76bd49b13f795.jpg

Thank you all for the nice comments.

I'll leave the cabin floor natural, with a coat or two of WOP,  but I think I shall paint the stove base.

I've started to add planks to the centre band, I think this may take a while.
