New builder from Finland

Recommended Posts

Hi! My name is Mikko, and I started my first wooden boat model just before christmas.

My model is a Billing boats Dragen. Now I am doing the planking. It seems to take some time, but I think the slower the better! I’ve really enjoyed so far.

I am a sailor too, and building feels good while waiting a new sailing season!

I was very happy to find this awesome forum, thanks!

Hello Mikko and welcome to very nice forum. Here are already some shipmodel builders from Finland, but there is always room for more. You are building a nice sailboat!

Tervetuloa (Welcome) Mikko,

Can I encourage you to start a build log? You seem to have a good start. There are others building "Dragen" (The dragon in Danish). A build log can be useful when you get stuck with poor instruction etc.

Regards

Henrik

Moi Mikko, welcome!

That is a Nice boat, the Dragen. I would also like to build one so I’m very interested in case you are starting a build log.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
