Such a beautiful build, I'm really impressed with your work. I always look forward to seeing your updates (and really nice photography to showcase it all).

Thank you @VTHokiEE!!

I've run out of some black rope that's needed to secure the remaining yards in place, so while I wait for some more to come in I'm thinking of catching up on the rope coils. I'll avoid gluing the ones close to the neighboring empty pins since they'll come in the way when belaying lines. Anyways, here is another pic of the remaining yards hung via the ties:

Just checking in.  All I can do is echo all the previous comments and say "Wow"!   Your Syren is really a museum piece.  Love all the photos. You do a great job with them also.  You are getting very close to being done.  I find the little differences between yours and mine very interesting.  I still haven't gotten around to taking some final photos of mine.  This time of year I get distracted with yard work and stuff outside.

Still working on finish on display case, but getting there.  Maybe another week.   I assembled the frame and it sure got big!  It's going about like my Syren, ok, but not by any means perfect.  Is there a way to send more of a private message to you?   Just curious what you're working on in grad school. i was aero engineer...long time ago, ha!

Many thanks David! The ship is really getting busy with so many ropes, so I decided to take a couple days break from it. I don't want to rush these critical steps towards the end of its completion (I am finding I keep pulling ropes with my tweezers if I am not too careful). I am still deciding where I will display her, and am on the lookout for a nice display table. I saw your display case, it's giving me ideas and inspiration on what I'll do for mine.

Just wanted to post a quick update. I decided to continue rigging and will work on the rope coils after. I'm currently almost done rigging the royal yards. I also received the additional rope so I can work on the rigging without worrying of it running out!

Thanks all for the likes! I finished rigging the royal yards. Here are a few pics of the ship at this stage. The ship is getting really busy now with all the ropes. Hard to keep track of what's where!

I'll next catch up on the 10000 rope coils which will take a while 😅, then will finish up the rigging on the lower yards, then the spritsail yard. I am the point where I can count what's left to finish her up! I still can't believe where I have reached...

Again, great photography and a really superb model.   Approaching these end-days must be a nice feeling for a complex project like Syren.   I wish I had more to say that hasn't been said already - it really is great piece of work.

I just finished catching up on the rope coils. I think I made around 60 of them! Here are a few pics:

I looked at Tom Laurie rope coil video and i feel his method makes the coils too uniform. Looking at yours makes me keep looking and seeing more details. I really like the varying lengths of the coils. WELL DONE JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE SYREN

I just finished chapter 13 and now onto chapter 14. Reading logs to see how you and others dealt with the hammock netting.

Thanks so much for the kind words Eamonn and Will! I also looked at Laurie's video on YouTube but I was a bit lazy and made a simpler jig. Here are a couple of photos of the jig. I made sure to deviate the spacing between the toothpicks a bit so the coils look different from each other

And here's the crazy looking block assembly that I've been eyeing time to time from the start of the build. Still doesn't seem real that I've reached this point!

AH! toothpicks the wonder tool or wood of modeling. Great idea and as I said I noticed the different spacing of the coils. I did that on my carronade riggings coils to keep from being to uniform.

That is looking fantastic.  Yes I designed that model with far more rigged ropes than you typically see on a model.  Its tedious but when completed it really does look good.  Especially when done so nicely as you have done.  Really great work.

Thanks Chuck! After building the Syren, I would always want to add this much detail for my models. It makes it extra special.

As usual I agree with all the comments, this is a truly beautiful model.  I think Chuck may have some competition!   He really designed a nice kit, and I like all the extra details.  The manual was excellent, and he provided simpler options in it that I used.  You went for it all plus some!

I sure thought there were more than 60 rope coils.  Felt like about a 1000.  Yours came out great!  I think the varying length makes it look realistic, although the video said the bosun liked them all a certain length.  I guess it depends on the bosun on each ship!  Can't thank you enough for your advice and reference on rope coils.  I've made a couple for long boat and like them much better than what I did on my Syren.

Finishing running rigging is major accomplishment.  Almost done!

The anchors require much more work than I previously thought. Here is where I've reached with them:

Next is the iron rings, then the buoys (which also seems very involved!)
