( Or is it just me? )

Build logs are such a valuable resource.  They are often like a mini-course on how to build a particular kit, or scratch building techniques.

However, I don't feel like we need to see the same images twice unless the builder chooses to repeat them, particularly when the builder has posted several images in one post.

I personally find this distracting when several pictures are involved, and especially large format pictures, which are really great when provided the first time by the builder.

I'm looking at a bunch of pictures, first thinking " Ok, slightly different angle."  Then, " wait a minute I just looked at all five of the same pictures. ", then realize I'm looking at a quote by someone other than the builder.

When you quote a post in a build log, you also create a duplicate of all the pictures that were included in that post.

It's great to complement and question our builders, but I would suggest we just quote the relevant text for our complement, comment or  question .

If you drag the cursor over a relevant portion of text, you will get a pop-up asking if you want to quote the highlighted text:

If you click on the pop-up, the forum engine will start a new reply with only the chosen text.

If you want to include a single image to clarify your comment, you can right click on the image, and choose " Copy image address " .

If you then paste that address into your reply, it will be included in your reply.

If I have created more confusion than help, please let me know.  Also I welcome any admin comments, pro or con.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
