Italari 1/12 Mephistopheles by kpnuts

Hi all another car build, this is an incredible kit but I didn't build this version (it's the one in the museum) I will be building it as the world speed record car (most notable difference is it will be black.

I did all the copper and brass pieces with copper and brass leaf.

Lead on McDuff. I am certain the journey is going to be enlightening. Hard to envision a racing Fiat of that era in anything but red.

It was ernest Eldridge dream child 21 litre aero engine, it must have took some guts to drive it no brakes total loss oil system (they would have been sitting in hot engine oil after every run) done on French country roads in the run there was a co pilot to pump the extra air and petrol into the system.

The car as known now is after the world record run when it was sold as a race car and got the name mefistofeles and painted red when ernest had it it was simply called the beast.

Hi KPnuts,

Did you have to make up those chains link-by-link like on the Fiat model by Pocher? This is a very cool model. It's come through my hands several times over the years but I never built it. It might have to go back on my "to-do" list.

I'm really excited to watch this - I have it in the stash.  From what I've seen, it is an incredible kit.  Good luck!

The black version is really sweet - there is a work in progress on Model Cars Magazine forums by Maysula in case you're interested.

Same here, Rick. Looked through the kit, thought about it, then ended up trading them off several times. Did that with kits I now regret as they are so darned hard to find.

Yes following that one mike.

Italari have re released it.

Yes, that's the version I have.  Somehow lucked into it on eBay when a seller decided to discount it by 60%.  The scale looks perfect for adding lots of cool details.

It's an amazing kit there was a build on britmodeller where the poster was using this as the basis of his and built the whole chassis in brass (and it was well detailed made the kit look basic) but then he just disappeared, that would have been spectacular when finished.
