good evening everyone

Day 59 after 1/2 deck compartments

i hope these are going to work, everything is removable at present, the extended posts might come in handy when the lower deck beams are put in

Looks very nice. This kit is on my radar for the near future. I like where you’re going with it. Mind if I copy you’re route? Haha

good evening everyone

day 61 still on after 1/2 deck

i dont think i have ever been on a small project for so long, well not since the copper plates and the gun ports, (i still loose sleep over them) on the 1/72 Victory, lol, that seams so very long time ago, infact that was april 2011

it was make or break time this afternoon, commit to the work that i have prepared, or do the bulkheads again, this time with a bit of depth to them

the reason for not doing that, was that very little of the bulkheads will be seen, and in a few months time none of this will be either, unless i remove some of the frames

the adapted lower deck beams that will be fitting over the area were checked

paper tape removed and i started to put the bulkheads in place, test fitting the deck beams as i go along, and adapting where necessary

nothing i have put into the hull is part of the kit, and no internal detail  is shown on the plans

The deck beams are for the upper deck, and i will need to reorder them, the references i am going by for the internal details are for another class of vessel, but similar in design

Good evening everyone

Day 62 After 1/2 deck compartments finished

i decided not to rip it all out again, seams very pointless for something that wont be seen, otherwise, im never going to progress from here, yes the doors are to thick, and all different, lets see if i can improve when i move to the front, the lower deck beams now fit over the bulkheads, and thats made me happy

always happy to post on here things that are not as good as they should be,

getting rid of the white edges  is  next

Regards the tiger kevin all the detail is included with the kit so i just went with it, i will leave all the hatches open so you will be able to get cheeky glimpses of some of it at least. I am also building the takom jagdpanther G2 but didn't bother with the maybach engine on that one!

Looking good, Kevin.  You said this is a step stone to scratch building and a good way to learn is scratch build stuff that's hidden.  You'll find that things you build later, you'll like more than the earlier built things.

Looking good, Kevin.  You said this is a step stone to scratch building and a good way to learn is scratch build stuff that's hidden.  You'll find that things you build later, you'll like more than the earlier built things.

Thank you Mark, i keep looking at the triton, and do that in 1/48, but i will have seen many other possible projects before that times comes along, today i fancy the new under development from @Bluejacket WYOMING.

Its all part of Kev's journey, bit like going to the dark side, but with the lights on

Good evening everyone

day 64 fore 1/2 deck supports

having learnt lessons from the pointy end,  today  i manged to do what took two weeks making a level 1/2 deck

i traced a deck beam onto a piece of plasticard, and temp glued it to the beam , the beam was then put into position and held with clips whilst a deck support was shaped to fit under it, this support was glued and pinned and the deck beam with card removed, this was repeated twice, then two strips of wood placed between the new supports provided a template to fix another 3 beams in place without any issues

Looking good Kevin.   I hope this is from the angle of view but you might want to recheck your bow where I've highlighted.  IMG_8197.thumb.JPG.7e6703ceefef7dbb5b84e55eb46eecdd.jpg.f8738fba19e3063fbdf139237fcae237.jpg

I just read through most of this log again and you have done a really nice job so far!

Can I ask your opinion of the kit overall? I have had my eye on this one for sometime, but can’t justify the price range yet lol.

Bradley good morning

the wood quality is very good, and well lasered, requiring very little to remove the parts from the billets, the after sales is  excellent, Tom really understands the service he supplies, a few bits have been replaced without issue

i have not looked at the actual metal parts/windows yet, and have them locked away to stop me playing with them, as i decided to do this in some sort of order

Plans are 1/1 and well drawn, instructions are basic, and most if the text is in Chinese, but with a couple of builds under your belt the drawings become self explanatory

there are some build logs out on the web, but they belong to a site where the bad boys from here go (mainly building pre licienced kits or on the MSW banned list (hope you know what i mean)

the kit an be supplied in 3 parts

the kit is not that expensive for what you get and the time taken to build

posting and packing is expensive, as the covid is restricting/dictating cost of available carriers, this is doubled by the time the import duties are added

the cost, depends an how you rate a kit a rough estimate puts my build at about £900 total (including p+P and duties)

there are no books that cover this class of ship, but the Pandora book is about as close as you will get.

recommended by me
