HMS Bounty by klimi - 1:60 scale (armed merchant ship)

Recommended Posts

Thank you Krutzelpuntz, i forgot say, that the replacement for a glass is a fiol out of disket.

Yes, I could imagine. it would probably respond poorly to heat, would just curl up. I was thinking of some thicker plastic. I'll have to try it out some day. :)

Maybe this glass wasn't used on ships at all, i'll have to find out.

Gallery is done. I´m i preparing for a work on the bow. I am a little bit scared out of curved planks. I dont know, if is better to cut stright shape, or use stright plank and curve it.

Rudder was next step, cos i´m waiting for a wood on the work on gallion.  But the end of ship doesnt fit with hole on the deck, so i had it made a fake, but it works

Thank you guys,

i´m a litle bit curious, cos work with metal is waiting for me and i never done this. So now waiting for a metal components and tools for metalworking. I´ gonna have a solder for work with small pieces, 3 pliers of different styles, hammer... but i dont know what is useful as ground on metalwork?? For the wood i´m using a plastic table, but a little bit afraid what the higher temperature can make with this and also what is good to use as anvil? I saw some small anvils for jewelcrafting and it looks great but i´m not sure yet.

As a metal i chose brass wire and sheet 0.3  0.5  0.8 and 1mm for blackening i gonna use a liquid i dont know how it´s call.

I hope that next week i will have everything for this work, but the work now is very slow, because i have to learn on the exams, but i will try to updates everything.

I think that is irreplaceable tool for soldering and other fine works

You can find it in Chinese shops about 5€

I also wait for soldering tips, and research Internet for lessons

I don't know what's available where you are, but a soldering pad is indispensable for protecting the work area.  Something like this:  http://www.micromark.com/soldering-pad-12-inches-x-12-inches,7358.html

Question - to fix rudder or to leave it movable ?

In my opinion, rudder is one of the most sensitive part exposed to damage during working on model. Maybe to mount it as later as you can ?

I don´t need movable rudder, so i gonna make it leave. Here are strips for next work. and i think that is not essential when i gonna put rudder to the ship. because on the deck is a small building covering top of the rudder and for work on rudder od the deck is important to rudder was on his place.

The rudder is fit to the ship now and i have to say that was really different work than everything else yet. Anyway, i made a first half in that way that i glue a brass strips and than put the nails on the second side i was working same way but i didnt use the glue i just nailed.

Hey Frank thank you a lot, do you know i'm trying to do everything what i can do. In my next steps i wish to improve the galion, i'd like to do a blue strips there, i think that it can move my model on a higher level. I gonna use a clay for it, it could works, but i got no experience with this but who's care :D and also work on figurehead. I will be pleased by that i will carve her out of lime wood, but if i will not like it i will try clay again. But this week will be poor in modeling, cos i have to learn on the exams.

cheers  Pavel

It is not so hard, most of the things i did with scalpel, files and sand papers. I can spend approximately 20 hours work on it. It is my firtst figure carved ever, i can´t imagine work on Wasa or on the others ships with many figures.
