Jan They are designed like wave guides to help reduce the ships RCS. Their is a fourth rib on top of the bridge structure - but by their positioning, it appears that they might be related to the Seawolf guidance radars, they might be radar absorbent material placed so as to reduce reflections from the superstructure that would otherwise interfere with tracking targets. I wanted to try some other options so got a Merlin set and PE for it. Bad news is it is WAY out of scale and does not fit in the hangar. So be it. They say they also have a 1/285 scale at 6.8 x 1.7 x 2 cm, this could be what you already have in your Trumpeter set. They also offer a smaller 1/400 at 4.8 x 1.2 x 1.4 cm. At that scale you get two helicopters. The maker offers all sorts of aircraft in what seems to be almost all scales. The last option is a hail mary and it's asking Airfix if they will sell you the merlins apart from the kit.....
