HMS Snake 1797 by Sjors - FINISHED - Caldercraft - Scale 1:64

Recommended Posts

Hi mike,

I don't know if the tape hold.

It's for me also the fist time.

Time will tell.

In a few weeks I will order the Victory and it will take some time to get to those copper plates.

When they are still on the Snake I will take the change.

Tell the Admiral that you NEED that lathe for tapering the mast and the chop saw for straight planks 🙂

I have buy every month a tool.

So it was going with not much financial problems.

Because I'm home I do a little bit more on the Snake.

But I prefer my job.

Monday and Tuesday I will ride  a few hours with  co-worker.

Just for two hours to see how it is going

Wednesday I have a health examination for my work.

I hope I will get that otherwise I'm not a bus driver anymore.............

Enjoy your weekend.

Buying one a month is a good idea, but my real problem is I would need another bench in the shipyard, and the Rear Admiral likes to sleep their every other month.  And perhaps more importantly the Admiral thinks it's a bedroom.  Best of luck next week.

Thanks again Mike.

I have my health clearance for the coming two years before I get retired.....

And the tools , you can take them away when you need the space....I do the same.

A little update again.

Coppered the rudder, make the ropes to the steering wheel.

Place the poop deck and stern deck.

Painted and the decks are done with Danish oil

Hi,

Masts!  I'm getting close to completing the hull, so should be with you fairly soon.

I bought the DB 250 lathe, and the MF70 milling machine.  Made a few sample pieces and they went well.  I bought the dividing plate for the mill which makes machining hexagonal and square sections very precise and enjoyable.  Will be machining out the slots in the bulwark rail in the next day or two so that will be the mill's first real job.

Retirement......for you it's 5 weeks Mike ,for me a little bit longer 😞

10 years ago you can ( have to ) get retired at 65......now it is 66 and 10 months for me.

It depend in what year you are born.

Yesterday was my 65 birthday so I know that I can go on for more then 1 1/2 year.

But ok, it is what it is.

The the update.....

All deck furniture is on it.

Bowsprit is done

Lower masts are in place.

Now I can go on with the shrouds and ratlines.

Not so much as I use to be.

Closure at last!

Nice work on the ship. I'm surprised it survived so well being moved to a new country.

Cheers

Thank you for sharing, what project are you doing next?

Next project h for 1 1/2 year now) the Victory from Caldecraft and a side project The Duyfken from Kolderstok.

You can find it in my signature.

The Victory is on hold at the moment because i’m waiting for copper plates.

Thanks Ben,

Don’t forget that with one hour driving we are in another country.

It’s not that far.

I have put her in a box and she was standing on the backseat with things beside her….

And she survived 😃

Hi Sjors, great to see you finished her - and that she looks so sharp.  I was worried that you had run out of steam (wind?) as so many Snake builders do.  Good luck with your other projects - I’m going to follow them in a minute.

Hi Mike,

I have not give up only make no pictures or give a update here.

Sometimes you just wanna build and not do the writing stuff like on a forum.

But then the blood goes where it should be.

And i come back!
