Imagine there is a sheave in it and the rope runs from the bottom of the sheave (at the bottom of the block) where the hole is towards the top of the sheave and away towards the other block, or sheave, or whatever it may run to. This would mean your hook may be on the wrong end of the block. Having it wrap naturally may improve the way it lays and also the way it looks. Then to tame your line, you might brush it with a solution of water and white glue and then train it to lay more naturally as they always seem to have a mind of their own unless under some weight. With cat tackles I suspend a small lead weight from the cat block hook and paint diluted pva on the tackle lines.
