B.E., yes, I was already evaluating which side would be the best to display. The "open" side would allow a better view to the rigging (weather side), when the sails are sharply braced, (not done yet). The closed side would give more of her approaching view under full sails from the leeward side. Agree with you, that a display view from all sides would be best. Before I started sewing my own sails I had neighther experience with the sewing machine, nor doing narrow hems. One day I had the idea of using the zic-zac stitch function, by laying the "bolt rope" in the middle of the foreseen zic-zac layed over the rope, and then folding it in the produced hem area. It took some Trials practicing the correct Parameters of the stitch Settings, but then it worked out fine. Mirabell61 Posted December 4, 2015 Author Share #1194 Posted December 4, 2015 Hello Peter, thanks for the welcome back, as you know, I`m a freind of figurines, so there is some painting to be done on a bunch of British naval soldiers in their gaiter trousers, that have been appointed with a mission (war of independence) down at the New England US coast. These are nicely molded exactly at scale 1:64, and will provide fine little color spots on the decks. In the moment the arms and fire-arms are still missing just like the belts that cross the chests over the red jackets. The standplates will be removed, before they go aboard. Before 1805 there was no red diagonal stripe on the Ensign. Not sure but I believe White or Red depended on which command or theatre of operations the ship was in. The Red ensign you are refering to is the one from 1800 - present for civilian ships (with the thinner diagonal red cross in the top left quadrant of the flag). My apologies for getting that date wrong. Nils has the correct flag for the time of the HMS Pegasus.
