I've used that method myself for non-kits and it works out well. The carriage kits (there's 4 sizes) will tell you which cannon fits so you'll have to open each one to see which cannon(s) fit. We have a group of wooden ship builders here. Ha Ha Ha on Boris needing affection! He runs the house and the shipyard.
