HMS Hood 1941 by CDW - FINISHED - I Love Kit - 1:700 Scale - PLASTIC

Recommended Posts

Been going nuts this weekend with home remodeling. Started stripping everything out of our bedroom this past Friday. Removed the old flooring, stripped off the baseboards. Then did a little drywall work and repainted, had a tile man come out today and laid new ceramic tile. Will grout tomorrow then put in new baseboards Wednesday. Hopefully will get everything moved back inside the room before July 4.

This real life stuff is getting in the way of modeling time!

The upgrade set offers two options for the tops of each funnel. One is a flat two dimensional piece seen to the right of my funnel, and the second option is the ant- leg sized three dimensional multi piece unit seen on top of my funnel.
Makes me feel they are laughing at those who are foolish enough to try the multi piece unit. I am not completely happy with me feeble effort to finish this assembly but I refused to give in to the easy way out. 😊

I think you still cheated and just stabbed an ant and glued him into place................:D

Nice work Craig. Again I say that the photos make it look like it is 1/350 or even 1/200 and I have to keep reminding myself that you are working in 1/700.

Wow that pin next to the funnel really puts the scale you are working at in perspective.  Looks like little people were helping with the handprints on the wall in the second photo?

CDW, sorry I had an off-topic question. From your 1/200 Mikasa build I wonder if the I Love Kit 1/200 Mikasa is the same version?  I’m thinking of doing that kit but was wondering if the pontos detail set (meant for the Merit 1905 kit) would work with that one.

Currently building:

HM Yacht Chatham - 1:64 - Caldercraft

Our 16 year old grand daughter did those hand prints when she was 2. My wife paints around them and will not cover them up.

I am not familiar with the I Love Kit Mikasa. Will look to see if I can tell. I think it should work.

Yes, I do believe it will be perfect.

I think the I Love Kit version is the old Merit version which went out of production. I see that I love Kit also picked up the Merit USS Hornet as well. That was another Merit kit.

really nice with the added extras  ;)   I must have missed it,  but I notice that some of the PE doesn't look to be brass.........a different type perhaps?

Superb work mate  that funnel just looks so nice  - are you going to try to drill out the Four pipes on the outside?

My internet has been down since Wednesday. Technician not due until tomorrow. Learned to use my cell phone which is okay except fat fingers. Cell phone eliminates a step or two as I have been using my cell phone for pics and only since internet malfunction learned to edit my photos using my phone. A silver lining I guess.

Indeed  Craig   - keep up the great work in tiny land.
