T37 by Nirvana - RADIO - yacht

Well, it took time but now all the racing upgrades are done.

The servo for main sheet is a digital high torque 120 degree throw servo.

The original high torque is powering the rudder.

The clew in the jib and main are adjustable along with the cunningham plus vang for the main.post-967-0-09072900-1374509750_thumb.jpg

The sheet lines are adjustable as wellpost-967-0-52094400-1374510024_thumb.jpg

Per!! its great to see you finally getting to your T37. So you used the Velcro upgrades. What do you think? Is this better that the old style?

Unfortunately my T37 has not been in the water since you last visited me. So many projects.

Floyd,

The Velcro works fine, but it's not attractive to such a beautiful yacht, wonder how this can be done even better?

To bad you haven't had time to sail, but with new house and more it's understandable.

I do have issues with water zipping in where the main hatch is located. Don't like the hatch design from Tippecanoe.

And for some reason the veneer has released from the plywood deck.

All epoxied but one area has a bubble. Have to do something about it.

Would you like me to pick up a hatch for you from TAP plastics? I really like the results of my design. Sorry to hear about the bubble. I am sure you will come up with a better solution that the Velcro. Let me know when you do.

RC friends, I have had the issue of small leakage around the hatch area.

So, this is the an idea I played around with (design wise) at the hotel room out of town and away from modelling.post-967-0-65525700-1380771814_thumb.jpgpost-967-0-99964200-1380771811_thumb.jpg

I am to make a mock up for trial before putting this into reality. Better have the trial and errors before going sharp. :)

An alternative to the clear lexan cover is to make it in wood matching the deck pattern.

So how are you going to hold the Hatch in place? I find that very little water gets from the aft side of the hatch. If you seal the sides and the front you should be good.

Hi Guys, great to read about the Tippecanoe boats! I have a T18 which I sail on local lake and have fixed a fishing line as suggested by Will Leash. I have also just almost completed the Schooner T47. She looks beautiful! All four sails. Waiting for wild weather to finish to allow me to commence trials!

I agree the hatch sealing does not look too crash hot, but only the trials will show if any good. Do you guys use extra flotation like polystylene beads in the hull? What if the hatch leaks and hull fills up, then bang go the electrics - in middle of lake......... What is range of transmitter??

Jimmy - I have been racing my T37 on and off for a couple of years. Our Club meets every Saturday (I am not often there). We have never had the accident you describe to anyone in a fleet of 38 boats. In fact I have never had enough water inside that needed draining. Just some heavy moisture which was resolved by leaving the hatch off for a couple hours. And we sail year round. I have had water breaking over the deck!

If you look in the completed models section you will see my T37.

Most of us use the digital transmitter and it has worked for me out to 1/4 mile. antennae placement helps. get it up under the deck and not down in the hull.

If you register your boat with AMYA (American Model Yachting Association) the will insure the boat for you. There must be something similar in Ozz.

Hi Commander Floyd. Thanks for the re-assurance and transmitter info! Actually, I have a secret weapon to use when sailing on Lake Kurongba - my kyak on the roof of the car!!! I can't wait to take her out for the trials, Weather at last seems to be improving. Will look into the insurance business in Oz

I suggest when you first get her in the water. Sail mostly upwind. If you have the unlikely event occur. She will drift back to you. These boats are simple but well designed. Have fun!

As Floyd said, this yacht is a lot of fun both building and sailing.

And she can handle hard wind real well.

In my area the lakes are still frozen and snow is currently coming down.
