PBR MkII Patrol boats

Unfortunately I don't know of a wooden kit (I think they are or were some plastic kits and maybe even a paper model kit), but there is a scratch build currently ongoing that I think you might enjoy looking through.

Hi Andrew, and welcome to MSW, if like ships from WW2 there is an American company Bluejacketinc that has such.
They have really models as well. Hope I am not to late with your decision making.

Thanks keeping an eye out for when this kit might go on sale. Does anyone know of kits for the riverboats from vietnam. Believe PBR MkII Patrol boats aka Dirty water navy.

Andrew

It's possible there is one.  Maybe do a Google search?  If not, maybe a scratch project or a bash of boat that has a similar shaped hull.

If you are willing to scratch build a model or to kit bash a plastic kit how about one of the several Vietnam river craft based on a LSM landing craft hull?  Plastic 1:32 scale LSM kits are available.  Maybe a monitor or a Zippo?

I have also seen kits (Dumas?) for the Ashville Class Gunboats that served offshore in Vietnam.  To my mind these were good looking warships.

See also under scratch building logs, posts for building a Vietnam era US Navy MSB minesweeping boat.

I use this holder 98% of the time.

Niagara has not been discontinued. Check around, you don't have to buy it at Model Expo. That said, unless you have all day every day to work on it - it would likely be a multi-year effort  (voice of experience). It's a beautiful build and definitely something to shoot for. But like I said earlier, focus on the task in front of you for now. As you near completion you will have some questions to ask yourself, most importantly "Do I even want to build another boat?".
