Building without CA glues

Recommended Posts

Sure--they're great glues for POF & POB builds. Indeed, PVA glues are the glues of choice for building ships. Elmer's, Gorilla, and TiteBond (I personally like TiteBond) to name a few, are all excellent choices. Indeed, most builders don't use CA at all or very rarely.

PVAs take more time to cure; however, they're much easier to de-bond when goofs happen. :)

Here's 3 good links on gluing.  Where PVA won't work, you might have to go with epoxy.

There's been other posts, some in build logs, by people who have the same issue.

  • 2 weeks later...

They reason they recommend CA is that the joint does not need clamping.  And it is quicker.  PVA glues and epoxy are still the major glues I use.
