Good to hear Michael, all the best with it. At this rate you'll be back in the workshop before me.

As you asked: I think this will interest you Michael, a mate's grandfather built this lathe in the '30s; his father (now 90) inherited it & built 8 working steam scale locomotives & numerous stationary & traction engines with it. It's just been restored by my friend's brother - what a good story.

Wow! what a great looking machine lathe. Capstan tailstock, built in indexing plate for the headstock, what more can a person ask for.

more time sitting in the garden smelling the encroaching fall smells My son and granddaughter brought a home made lasagna by yesterday it was delicious. kudos to my Daughter in law!

Good to hear. Take your time and don't give in to forum pressures ;)

I hardly dare to say that we are just back from tasting Italian food in Italy ... spent a few days in Venice. Took also the opportunity to visit again Gilberto Penzo (http://www.veniceboats.com) to get a copy of his latest book: http://www.veniceboats.com/libro-Il-trabaccolo.htm.

Michael, that is great news to read.  The healing will take some time so don't push it.

The post op appointment went well stitches removed, looks a bit ugly at the moment will be able to get it wet again in a couple more days. Doc was pleased with the progress and my feedback regarding the lack of pain. There is a little bruising that will subside over time.

I told him that i was using my fingers and he was pleased told me to keep doing it, I confided that I would lay of the WWF boxing for a while yet though, Made him laugh during these stressful days for the medical profession.

Cheers Michael

Good news, Michael. Thanks for letting us know.

Doctors need a good laugh these days. I recently underwent colonoscopy ( all is well) and, at the follow up that my wife insisted on attending with me, told them both that he had seen more of me than my wife ever will.

Be sure to sign up for an epic Nelson/Trafalgar project if you would like to see it made into a TV series  http://trafalgar.tv

That's kind off-topic, but during the first colonoscopy I had (in Austria they do without general anaesthetics, unlike here in France), the doctor asked me, whether I would care to look on the screen at what he was doing - provided me with completely new insights into myself ;)

Well I woke up this morning with a hankering to cut wood, so I cleaned off the workbenches and then started cutting wood.

I completed the notches on the starboard side now to get back to steaming.
