Hi Tom, The tunrbuckles were easy I took 3 /32" Brass tubbing cut 5" lenghths (Scale) then I took earings ( or I shoud say earring making pieces from bead Landing you can get them at Michaeles) and cut the loops off ( the dia. fits perfect in the tubes ) then soldered them in place . I then cleaned them up with sand paper. they are ready for installation.

yesterday, I satrted finishing the Cockpit ,I started on the floor ( leaving the bilge open so that I can nstall the lead. for the keel) I am using 1 /32 "Bich Ply for the floor . I used 1 /64" bich for the bench faces, and 1 /16 " for the seats . I made the Cockpit Bulkhead curved trim pieces (not Glued ) the Coamings and bench seats have not been glued in, as thay will be stained first. Next Will be to make the Aft Deck, Stain all the peces. glue them in . The Cockpit floor acess to the bilge will be left un glued for access to the Bilge.( I still have to add the lead ) Here are the reults

Pete,

If I read between the lines, none of these plans are available at this moment. That is a pity, indeed.

Thanks

Hi Yves, I was fortunate to get the Buzzards Bay 14ftr. Plans , ( also hard to get ) , My dad know's alot of people in the Boating Industry (builders, restorers  etc. ) My dad was able to get the set of plans for the Buzzards Bay 14.( Back in the early 60's ) He then gave them to

me 15 years ago When I had planned on building her Full size. The only problem is that The Plans are missing 2 pages ( the mast detail plans and the fittings plans ) I have been looking for them thru the Herreshoff Registry as well as Mystic Seaport. I had contacted a few builders ( Buzzards Bay Boat shop and Artisian Boatworks ) Those are some of the nicest people that I have Talked to, and they have helped me fill in the blanks, ( sizes and lenghts mostly ) as Far as the 12 1/2 , there are no plans available ( unless you know someone at Cape Cod Shipbuilding )  I had started a log ( Herreshoff 12 1/2 ) in the : ship plans and scratch research on specific vessels and ship types. Here is the Link : http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/6798-herreshoff-12-1-2/#entry199630.What I had come up with is that the Buzzards Bay 14ftr. has 18" frame spacing, and the 12 1/2 has 16" frame spacing . Both Boats Have the Same Beam ( so I played with some of the numbers on the offset table )the math all worked out correct. So made a few 3/4" = 1' 0" Drawings and everything looked good. ( And Started a proto-type ) I really would like to capture the essence of the 12 1/2( Hopefully I will Have a complete set of plans as well )

Best Regards,

Pete

Today, I continued  with getting the Cockpit completed. I started by making 5/8 X 3/32" strips to go between the Bench seat face and the bilge opening. then I made the bench seat faces ou of 1 /64" birch ply. I then made the rear deck , then the trim molding for the 2 cockpit bulheads. I stained the bech seats a cherry stain, She is starting to take shap. Next will be to glue the bench seats first then the Cockpit moldings than the rear deck. On a side note, I went to my local Hobby shop in Spokane WA., and was told first that my scale is on the small size.( unless I want to spend a ton)  Second that I am too far along in the build to add the Gear ( A remodel is not an option and so is the Radio) So  I will still take her for a Free Sail at a nearby Boat Launch that is wide and shallow. ( so She cant get away , but will be able to enjoy a beatiful Starboard tack for about 80 to 100 yards. ( enough time to get some cool Photos anyway ) In the Cockpit only the floor pieces and Bench faces have een glued . Next will be to stain the bench faces, Install the seats and the cockpit Coaming . then I will varnish the wood in the cockpit . Here are the results

Thank you J , Rick , For the wonderful compliments, and everyone that hit the Like button.  I greatly appreciate it.

Tom,  The rights for the 12 1/2  are owned by Cape Cod Ship Building, so they do not offer any plans, as they are the exclusive builders of the 12 1/2 , However  according to the Herreshoff Registry should you come up with the lines/ plans for the boat you are permitted to call it a Faithful reproduction of the Herreshoff 12 1/2 . since the Buzzards Bay 14 ftr. Is a lengthened version of his father's 12 1/2 with the same beam , just shorten the station spacing from 18" to 16" and leave the frames the same size per the offset Table. That is what I am doing on my 12 1/2 proto-type build

Pete

Today, I started by staining the Bench faces and the floor Boards, that were installed yesterday. I then installed the seat tops and the Cockpit Coamings . While that was drying, I made the rest of the floor Boards and cut lines in the rear deck to simulate single planks. ( fortunatly the glue on the ply is dark in color ) so when I got thru the top layer I ended up with caulking lines . I then stained the rear Deck as well as the floor Boards. The rear Deck, Bulkhead trim pieces and floor Boards have not been glued in yet.

Wow, that rear deck looks great. If you didn't say anything, I would have thought it was individual planks.

I would like to thank everyone for the likes and comments , it is very encouraging

Jay, I am glad that you are enjoying watching Her come together, She has been a fun boat to build

Tom , I was going for a planked look for the rear deck , fortunatly cutting grooves in the ply would be enough to simulate the caulking

Geoff, Thanks for you kind words

Today, I started by fixing the Cockpit Coamings  there were a few high spots that needed to be sanded . I then applied another coat of stain on them.( I am glad that I added the 2and coat ) While the Coamings were drying, I turned my attention to the Rudder, and Making the Tiller. I first cut some 3/32" birch ply to match the top of the Rudder, I then cut out the slot for wich the tiller goes in , Then glued the ply to the top on both sides of the Rudder, This then gave me the 1 1/2 " ( Scale) square in wich the Tiller fits. I then cut my 1 1/2" ( Scale) square stock to length. I then shaped it so that it has the ball end , I then soaked it in rubbing alcohol and bent the curve in . Here are the results . I used my sanding block to hold the rudder in position for the pics, Next will be to shape the Rudder Blade below the waterline
