An Hour In The Shower:....Chicago (Chicago III album) 1971  It's actually a unique blend of five seperate tracks blended into one song: A Hard Risin' Morning Without Breakfast, Off To Work, Fallin' Out, Dreamin' Home, and Morning Blues Again.

It Ain't Me Babe - The Turtles (It Ain't Me Babe album) 1965  (This was a song written by Bob Dylan from his fourth album Another Side Of Bob Dylan in 1964.)  The members of the band were so young at the time that prior to making the album they actually needed written permission from their parents to record it as they were still in High School!)

Only The Lonely (Know The Way I Feel) - Roy Orbison (Lonely And Blue album) 1960

I also have another excellent version by Chris Isaac recorded in 1996 on his album Baja Sessions.

The Only Living Boy In New York - Simon and Garfunkel (Bridge Over Troubled Water album) Recorded in 1969 but not released until 1970.

A bit of an aside to this song. Paul Simon wrote this song about his partner Art Garfunkel going to Mexico to act in a movie called Catch-22, which was directed by Mike Nichols, who gave Simon & Garfunkel a big boost when he featured their songs in his 1967 film The Graduate. Simon was also going to be in the film, but Nichols cut his part, which separated the duo. Garfunkel spent months working on the film while Simon returned to New York, where he toiled away on the Bridge Over Troubled Water album. He expresses his frustration in this song: "Here I am, the only living boy in New York."

And When I Die - Blood Sweat And Tears (Blood Sweat And Tears album) 1969

Their name was conceived by Al Kooper, (the groups founder, principal songwriter, keyboard player, and                                              singer) in 67 when he cut his hand during a jam session and left his organ keyboard covered in blood.

Now troubles are many

They're as deep as a well

I can swear there ain't no Heaven

But I swear there ain't no hell

Swear there ain't no Heaven

And I'll pray there ain't no hell

But I'll never know by livin'

Only my dyin' will tell, yes only my dyin' will tell

Oh yeah only my dyin' will tell

And when I die, and when I'm gone

There'll be, one child born, in this world

To carry on, to carry on

You Only Live Twice - Nancy Sinatra (Theme song for James Bond film of same name.) 1967

She was the fifth choice to sing it, behind Julie Rogers, Lorraine Franklin, Aretha Franklin, and Nancy's' father Frank!

You only live Twice or so it seems

One life for yourself and one for you dreams

I Wouldn't Want To be Like You - The Alan Parsons Project (I Robot album) 1977

If I had a mind to, I wouldn't want to think like you

And if I had time to, I wouldn't want to talk to you

I don't care what you do

I wouldn't want to be like you

Wouldn't It Be Nice - The Beach Boys (Pet Sounds album) 1966

This song was written by Brian Wilson, Tony Asher, and Mike Love and was released for the album, but was                                              also released as a single two months after the album with God Only Knows on the B side.  I have both.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
