OK........are you ready for this?........I hope so.   this update really narrowed down the amount of work I have left to do.   in the beginning......sub assemblies are being put together......antennas,  nav lights,  just to name a few of the parts.  the antennas are simply two rung stanchions with wire and brass rod run through them

post-612-0-24188100-1365598349_thumb.jpg

in the picture,  are also the nav light boxes.....two of them are plastic,  from the regina build,  and the other two are scratch made......from my oops bin {they need to be sized down to match the plastic ones}.  I grabbed the lights I got for the trawler Syborn build,  and filled in the lense with window maker.   the boxes were made ready.

then the radios were assembled

post-612-0-49141100-1365598736_thumb.jpg

I was thinking how I was going to assemble the wipers.   this begins the same way as I made the ones for the M&M build.

post-612-0-61448100-1365598826_thumb.jpg

the second radio was assembled.......the Denny-Zen is getting the delux model.....hee..hee

post-612-0-94792700-1365598892_thumb.jpg

paint work was done to the nav lights and boxes

I have seen GPS / radar domes on the roofs of some of these crafts......I'll go with it........huh....they look like mushrooms.........GNOMES!!!!!!   ya hate'em right??????   we had a guy at work,  who had a phobia about them.   we brought one in and put it on the tail end of a trailer and closed the door.....we knew he had to go in there...............what a scare he got............hee.....hee.....heee!

post-612-0-29823500-1365599218_thumb.jpg

here is a bit of a teaser...I think.   I don't have anchors for these two.  most lobster boats don't need them anyway,  but I have seen pictures with them.  in the interest of time,  I decided to simply give them a coil of rope with a loop on the end.   I can always change this down the road,  should I come across a pair of anchors.

Yay! Pictures... and lots of odd fiddly bits...  even better :D

I bet the anchors might be stowed below... so they don't get lost ;)

Radar domes are more like oversized cakes, rather than mushrooms... that's typically for communications (sat phones and whatnot...) GPS antennae are quite small and then can be mushroom shaped.. or sometimes like a popsicle...

Popeye,

Back in my day, skis didn't have bindings but rubber "step-ins" (easier to get out of). It was sort of a two part affair: a piece of rubber around the heel and another over the top of the foot.

Also, I think I showed you my radar antenna back in version 1.0; don't forget the repeater on the dashboard.

thanks Frank.......got one toe over the finish line a we speak!  thanks for the good word :)

yea.......Andy reminded me of how the dome should look........they look the same on our tractors  {truck}.    they look good enough for me.....I'm just going to leave them as they are.  they won't look like that in the future,  I assure you ;)

the skis are a tough nut to crack......I thought of going out....buying some  "barbie shoes".....and cut them up to make the bindings.  I have been looking at images of skis,  so I have a good idea of what I have to do.  I was going to make them out of brass {sheet} and paint them, but it sounds like a pain,  so I'm creating some material.

post-612-0-92856400-1365649195_thumb.jpg

this is sail cloth soaked in diluted white glue.   when it is dry,  I'll make a jig so I can fit the material into what I need.  perhaps Froyd wouldn't mind coming over so I can check for fit.......hee.....hee.

I made up the wipers for the both of them.   the way I did it was pretty neat......I was going to cement a thin strip of brass on the arm and paint it flat black....but in seeing how they looked,  I didn't bother.

post-612-0-28359200-1365649582_thumb.jpg

the blade is soddered on the end of the arm at an angle

post-612-0-61568400-1365649689_thumb.jpg

the dry fit showed that I needed to alter the angle a bit.  but once they were adjusted,  the blade was painted flat black.

Awesome.  I love the wind shield wipers that's very inventive.  Those ski's will be tricky.  Especially since no one has done it before that I know of.  Good luck.

thank you very much Mobbsie.......I can't think of any place I'd rather be.  your all such wonderful folk!   if more people,  instead of saying   "I would never have the paitence".......would just sit down and apply themselves........they would see how creative thay are!   it's hard,  and sometimes frustrating,  but when it's all said and done.....all that effort paid off.   the admiral won't let me play with plastic......I'm good with that.......I've found more challenge,  and creativity working with wood.  being a member of this site and chatting with you fine folks,  has bolstered me even more......and I thank you all for that.   thanks for your suggestions and for your interest :)
