Matthew 1497 by Ilhan Gokcay - Scale: 1/50 - Finished

Recommended Posts

Hi Don,

For the woods pear which I do use and cherry would be ok. Probably oak was used in original and the color of pear and cherry are close enough. For the decks I would suggest lime wood.

Finished the bulwarks. I’ve painted the remaining planks of the bulwarks seperately. Covered the contact surfaces with masking tape and handpainted with Humbrol enamel matt paint.  Again used white glue(PVA) for glueing.
Sanded the corners off which needed some touchup afterwards.

Very nice Ilhan,  the flat/matte finish of the paintwork is very complimentry to the natural timer and really sets it off.

I'm going on with the rigging. Heart blocks are used for the mizzen and foremast shrouds and these are fixed to deck. I’ve attached also every possible standing and running rigging to the main mast at this stage. For convenience I’ve modified some cloth pegs which proved to be very useful.

Ilham,

Hello. I discovered your build when you posted some comments about Ferit's Berlin. Oh what a beautiful build. So perfect. I will return to your build  read, and look at everything carefully very from the beginning. I will enjoy reading all of your comments. I'm sure that I will also learn so much. I will also look at your other beautiful work with the link that you provided. Congratulations on your artistic talents. A pleasure for the senses,
