Hey My friends, I just thought i would drop a few words, just so you know i have not sank to the bottom of the sea..

Work had ground to a stop of late, this is due to a large number of staffing issues, and my HUB,  and been turned to to a playroom for the granddaughter..

Work has started, and now working on the Fore Mast. But need to do a bit of reading first.. so look out new updates coming soon.

Cheers

Rich.

Hi Lawrence,

Lived up to my name of grumpy for a bit ,, Yet the happiness on her face (18ths old) was worth the build going to one side..

Hello Rich,

Just ran across your log and quite impressive it is. I have just started my Victory by Panart. for the third time; being unhappy with the results of the first 2 trials.

I had the fantastic experience of spending 2 days aboard HMS Victory several years ago with 2 friends who were also building the model. It was a 4-day boys' night out trip to Portsmouth and the NMU in Greenwich where we actually held MR Steele's plans in our hands that the staff had pulled out for us. Those who like history always speak of a profound moment when observing something of significance. Mine came on the Victory when I realized that the serving vessel on which I stood was older then my country! Awesome!

Good luck with the continuation of your build.

Regards

Well,  few days back on the build has been a good one.

The Fore mast, not been that bad, still tweaking things.so this is not the final.. I have left the boarding pikes of till painting is finished.

Welcome Django, I am no where "master builder"  this is my second build. I'm in no rush to finish. All I would like it it to look great and to the best I possibly could get. Sometimes redoing  more than twice! ask question were you need to, Some time look a few steps beyond where you are, in case you need to do something different.

Hello All, Thanks for the comments and Likes, as always very much appreciated.

Wonder if anyone can help. I thinking ahead of the rigging... Now I have read people using serving machines. To bind rope together etc. I cant afford to buy one are the postage from the US is high, and cant find any in the UK.

Does anyone know a way round or even to i need to do this?

Rich.

HI All, The following pictures are of my attempt of a 4 butt system for the decking, I will use this of the other deck, I'm not sure if i will use tree nails(unless someone has any ideas of the best way to do)).

I think I do this right!

post-123-0-79557800-1401120433_thumb.jpgTHis is a 5 butt system Which on lower decks was often correct

Note this missing  plank at No 1.
Planks where laid on the DFEck Beam and some times wernt exactly the same distance apart
Although the butts on the same number where exact

Just A small update, I  have now the Rat lines sorted on the fore mast, port side so far. (Happy ? Yes, I think so .. Far to much to change if im not)

Im Doinging to coat the as it rat lines ( both completed sides ) in PA/water, before next stage, this sould give it a less bounce!!

:default_wallbash::default_wallbash::default_wallbash:     Dissapointed Update       :default_wallbash::default_wallbash::default_wallbash:

Well Small update...   Well more of a a BIG Mistake.

Rat Lines . Drawing Sheet 12,  Shows Mizzen Mast of the left side with lines @ .075mm --- So previous Post Complete lines  ( although finished)   Took it as all ratlines are the same.

Rate lines Fore and Main Masts,  should be @1.3mm  .......... So guess what...

Its all being ripped out and started again!!!!!

Diffrance to far to much to ignore....... bugger!!

Cheers!

Rich.
