Work continues on the tops'l yard with sheets and clewlines rigged. By putting things down in my own words I will, in a way, be building the ship in my mind. As I go along I will change my instructions to reflect gained knowledge. Hopefully there will be fellows like yourself that will be advising me. I probably would have done this without the website but it is much more interesting studying the work that you and others do. I have a frame that is designed to support the poop deck and it fits very loose onto the keel (it wobbles). What technique could be used to make it fit tighter? What I did was use two layers of paper on each side with a touch of glue and it tightened it up. See my log I am doing a lot of entries. Jeff-E Posted May 9, 2020 Share #321 Posted May 9, 2020 Hi Keith, The stunsail booms look really good as they are but as an alternative I saw in a photo of the Victory taken at Portsmouth a while ago when she was fully rigged and the stunsail booms were painted yellow ochre in the centre and black on each end. I don't know how historically accurate that is but it how I painted mine on the Victory bow section. Or alternatively just paint the end s black. Just my two bob's worth, I hope I haven't confused the situation to much! clearway Posted May 10, 2020 Author Share #324 Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) Ty jeff and the caldercraft ones are 1/72 not 1/75! have decided after looking at the pic you sent to do a halfway compromise- paint the inboard end black (also need to add a crutch for when lashed to the yard) and leave the rest varnished- safe to say i haven't consulted the billings rigging plans for some time as they miss/ compromise a lot (bit strange as their cutty sark rigging was pretty comprehensive)! Luckily i have a dedicated modelling cave which the admiral seldom ventures into- it's mineeeeeeeeeee allllllllll mineeeeeeee hahahahahahaha🤪, but bon the serious side the yards are sooooooo wide i nearly head but them when sitting down even tho the hull is 18 inches back from edge- need to sit up straighter when sitting down!
