Endeavour J Class Yacht by LMDAVE - FINISHED - Amati - 1:80

Brian - I don't know about you but during a race it seems that most of the blood goes somewhere else other than the brain. You do things you would never consider in any other circumstance. Did you read about the Foredeck guy for AU who found himself waterskiing next to the bow of his boat during the America's cup In Australia? He was knocked overboard and was hanging on to the Jib sheet of a sail that were taking down. If he let go and was picked up by the chase boat, they would have been disqualified and lost the race. So he pulled himself hand over hand back onto the boat. And they continued to sail.

Dave - I would definitely suggest you add the spinnaker pole. The Endeavour could not win any races without it.

Yes, I feel I should do some touching up , that is one big one I left out. I post corrections here when I do. Thanks

OK, here's my spinnaker pole. It may be a little thicker than scale, I had to start from a 1/4" dowel and sand down.

Dave - I am sure you are going to get tired of all my comments. I like the pole and the close up of it on the deck. But the close up shows something else is missing. The fitting for the pole on the mast. :o The pole is not very useful unless it can attach to the mast much like the boom.

Floyd can you take a picture or find a picture of the connection point. I thought that may have been something I overlooked on the mast, but cant see it on the drawings. Maybe it was left out. But, I'd like to add it if I can find a picture of it.

Dave - I just returned from 2 week out of town. As you can tell your log is the only one I have been commenting on while away. now that I am home let me first look at my Kit to see what they have and then do some research to show you the fitting I am referring too.

Dave, how did you attach the rigging at the end of the boom that runs through the rings on each side of the boom?

Some more updates on the rigging. I rigged the boom which had a real trick run trough about 7 blocks.  And I'm only rigging one side to the mast before putting on sails, so the other  side can be rigged later..will make it easier for putting on the sails.

Hi Dave, I just found your build log and really enjoyed reading it.

I'm currently building the Pen Duick by Artesania Latina and I just completed painting the hull. It turned out very well and now I need to put a clear coat on it. I'm really nervous about applying the clear coat and am also unsure about how high the gloss should be on these racing sailboats.

I was wondering what you used for your clear coat and how you applied it?

I really love these wonderful J Class sailboats. Congratulations on a beautiful model!
