The Black Pearl by Greg92 - Hachette - Week by Week

Recommended Posts

Hey guys the name is greg I'm from goldcoast Australia and this is the first ever build I've done which is the black pearl I've already have issues 1-3 and will be getting issues 4-7 this week I know that people on different sites don't agree with these type of partworks but the way I see it is that I get distracted very easily and with the 120 spread over 120 weeks I should be able to complete this I've been watching YouTube and have Been following Callum's build (06callum06) which has been very helpful so if he sees this thanks mate. I'll be starting another build probably next week which is a titanic week by week by deagostini which I was able to pick up all 100 issues for only $350 all unopened

So if any 1 has any hints or tips please let me know cheers guys thes are some pics of what I've done

Hi Greg.

Welcome to MSW.

I started the pearl but hatchet part works failed to deliver .

My advice is to stick with the instruction's step by step.

Add or replace if you want to make improvements.

The size is nice and makes into a fine scale model.

Regards Antony.

Hi Greg.

Are you talking about the 6mm gap each side in part 7 if so that's OK. Part number 16 fits in here.

This gap is used to join the stern and the bow section together.

Look at page 6 .drawing 16 shows the 6mm gaps.

Regards Antony.

Hey guys wow it's been 3 months already been busy at work and with family so I'm currently wait to receive my next shipment ( issues 20-23) hopefully be here on Monday ( december01) I had a problem with issue 9 where it was broken so I had to wait for a replacement and issue 11 was out of stock so I had to wait for that as well so I've received all issues up to issue 19 now but stil waiting on replacement of issue 9 I've painted my model with black stain called walnut I've just got to finish the cell walls then I'm done but luckly I still have them I prepaird them ready to paint then went to bed as I'm a baker so I sleep during the day. My room mate decided to clean my desk and chucked out the cell walls thinking that they were rubbish so I had to dig through the recycling bin

Hi Greg.

Nice to see your still building her.

Nothing gets wasted is a good tip to tell your flat mate. EVERYTHING is wanted. NOTHING is scrap.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
