Thanks Keith and Jan.

Well not quite yet Jan.

Lots to do yet.

Swab the deck , plenty for the carpenter to be getting on with. :)
The mast I test fit all the time, to make sure all is ship shape as I go along.

Hi Keith shipmate.

Yep she is coming along.
The table and chairs up and in use.
DSCF4933_zps70fb170a.jpg
The round one is for ether the Captains or Admirals quarters, maybe have to make two.
Fixing cannons and not knocking them off the decks I see is a problem, well with the ropes plus sanding off the base of the truck wheels might help with fixing to the decks.
DSCF4906_zps7ec12e15.jpg
Brass added to give better strength on the bowsprit. For the rope/blocks later.
With wood and brass and lots of advice, this should work well.

Thanks Daniel shipmate.

Ok unshipped the guns from this deck(middle) added wood dowls to the base from Keiths suggestion for secure fitting.

Drilled and glued inplace.

Next its a test fit of the upper deck, all seems well.

Thanks Keith mate.

Will be warmer and good to meet friends.

Plus can pick up some Syren products while I am there.

Had them sent to one of my relations, so as to save money.

All helps.
These are some that I already have for the block/tackle for the upper/quarter decks, still another 29 to make, they work too.

Well in two weeks time I am off for a vac as you Americans call it.
But in the meantime I have started on some of the figures for this and another ship.

There is a very limited amount of postures in the figures for naval ships in this scale.
So it means a few(many) amputations.

DSCF5006_zps1f2d7758.jpg

Here are just a few, with an American officer(the one I use in many pictures so far), Capt Hardy(still needs his hat sorting.
Seven marines, one drummer and a marine officer plus many more alterations.
What you see is only a fraction of what's needed for this and another ship.

I guess by the American officer is a clue. ;)

Back soon, foxy :piratebo5:

Your work is amazing... I started on the Heller Victory in March of 2013.  At the very beginning, I was interrupted by Cancer and had to postpone my build.  Well, Great news, I beat it and have been resuming my build, a kind of therapy if you will.  I came to the quick conclussion, just like you, that certain parts had togo.  I have been searching the web, reading posts, visiting websites, trips to the hobby stores, etc.  I bought the etch parts from Dafi, and to all out there, I cannot highly enough reccomend them for this build.  As for the blocks, deadeyes, and ropes, I would greatly appreaciate your help.  I saw that you used Syrens products which was already on my purchase list.  My question to you specifically is: what size, color, type (cotton, linen, nylon) and where did you purchase the  ropes are you using for the shrouds, cannons, and seizings?  I think that all the followers of your build would find this information extremly useful in their builds.  I look foward to your reply if at all possible.

Hi AvesP.

Yep can help and say what I am using, but there are other products you can also use.

The deadeyes I am using will be the one's that come with the Heller Ship( have not got there yet) that's the plan for that part of the work, I am using Dafie's Idea's for this. Having got his etch parts, do you also have his download of some help with the use of these etchings.1 to 10 I believe.

Rope is another thing that you can use from the kit, but am using some from Syren and Bluejacket and Cornwall scale models.

On the ropes for the cannons I am using the white rope that comes with the kit for the lower, middle decks as you see in the pictures.

For the block/ tackle I am using Syren 2mm single and double blocks, for the rope I am using cotton. but will also be using Syren/Bluejacket rope as ness.

Having not got to that stage yet for the shrouds, it will be much clearer once I am doing this part of the build. There are many idea's about what to use.

In the meantime I am on vacation, so will not be able to explain till I get home in a month and a half's time.

Thanks for your Interest, believe me you have given me some nice idea's to put my build across.

Thanks Keith.

Well enjoying the run down to San Diego and the three hour tour of the Surprise.

Have the movie and now been on the ship its self,' boy don't it seem different'.

Dwarfed by the carrier next door.

Just shows the change in naval times.

Well its back to LA and hate the drive into the city, but so different to our roads, with traffic running both sides at 70 mph, think I will go back to the sailing, much more relaxing.

Cannot wait to get back to Victory again.

  • 1 month later...

Ok back on board again.

Having gathered some very fine blocks etc.

DSCF5027_zpsa97995bd.jpg
These from Syren models.
DSCF5025_zpsf9c78794.jpg
Plus working in a new location,(warmer as winter comes), so all these items will keep me busy over the festive season.
The parts on the right are white metal from Blue Jacket, have roped all 16 for later fixing to the spars.

Working on the figures too.
DSCF5015_zpsb1016c28.jpg
These are a very nice addition and are in kit form, will bee needing a few of these later.
DSCF5013_zps0fd55ad1.jpg
They are again from Syren models, and with a little care can be made to work.

Well working on the siren blocks still, with the main and foremast .

First its the Jeer blocks =, all siren products for this part.

DSCF5032_zps3cb15e86.jpg
Two and three hole config.

Then its the two and one hole blocks that hang underneath the tops.
DSCF5029_zpsd76b00c0.jpg

Well moved on a touch with the blocks etc.

As promised have cleaned up and added blocks to the lookout tops, not sure if the Mizzen mast has these blocks beneath, cannot find any ref to them in my books.
But the Heller kit has three holes each side for them.
DSCF5033_zps65e10986.jpg
Also added the Syen double blocks to the main and fore yards.
DSCF5036_zps6f2ce405.jpg
Also added the Bluejackets white metal twin blocks.

DSCF5037_zps6290f6c0.jpg

More later.

Been experimenting with diff size rope/thread to make loops. There are lots of these loop rings.

DSCF5041_zps01ad9366.jpg
The smallest rope from Syren seems to be the ticket here.

DSCF5046_zps2bb96bda.jpg
Needing two each end of the sprityard made me think on this problem.

Just tied around a pin and glued, once set it holds its shape and you just fix to the yard etc.
Will need loads of these later in the build.

Maybe we should be asking if you make watches as a side job.  Nice work and a great imagination.

Well been busy on the mizzen mast with Dafi's etch parts.
Used his etch parts for the boom rest, but used the Heller part for the belaying pins, but there is an etch for this also.

Will add a blob of PVA on the belaying pins.
DSCF5086_zpsc43638d6.jpg
Next it was the ropes that are added before the shrouds are placed.
DSCF5082_zps0151f229.jpg
Used Syren products for this.
An overall picture of the mast so far.
DSCF5077_zps5cb3f769.jpg

DSCF5078_zpsb92e741a.jpg

Then it was the turn of the Channels.
Added Dafi's eyelets to this, plus extras.

DSCF5083_zps9228778b.jpg
In the foreground are the mizzen channels.

Also added extra plastic to the width, this being 1mm and the lugs to connect.
