This shot really accentuates the lovely lines you get when you go back to the original draughts for the roughtree rails. Having a correct lantern helps.

That Lantern is fantastic. I will replace mine too. What scale size did you order from Chuck?

A very fine lantern there. As a diversion I'm going to have crack at my Syren Models lantern kit this week. We'll see how I go. I'll be very happy if it ends up as good as yours. Your whole model looks fantastic and getting these little parts right makes it sparkle.

Today I am fitting the wooden hoops either side of the woolding on the foremast. I am using iron-on wood veneer edging that I got from a hardware shop. I peeled off the heat sensitive glue layer and cut it into thin strips then soaked them in hot water to soften the wood. I used PVA glue and held them in place with cellophane tape until the glue dried

Hi Steve,

Very inventive B)

I find this area of the masts with the relationship between the cheeks and hounds very confusing so will be watching with interest.

cheers

That looks so good Greg

As I have just posted on Slogs, I can't see me ever doing a proper bashed build as I have neither the kit or the room to do it

However having quality materials and having to work and shape them yourself you get the impetus to get it right

You certainly have done that Greg

Great work

Recieved my Lantern today from Chuck. It is a fine piece of laser cutting. Looking forward to making start after I have finished my canons. (also from Chuck)

I've been working on the mainmast this weekend. For the masting I'm using the AOTS drawings which I enlarged to 1:51 scale

Hi Steve,

Your masts and tops are look superb.

The black horizontal mast head hoops; did you use black paper for them?

and

The vertical mast head batterns; did you notch these for the horizontal hoops or do they just sit on top?

Cheers

Slog

Hi Slog

The hoops on the masthead are made from plastic pinstriping for cars, just cut it to width and stick it on. The battens just sit on top, no notches.

Cheers

Thanks Mike, yeah I saw the pics of your Victory, nice piece of work. I built a Corel Victory about 20 years ago but its nowhere near as good as yours.

I've only been doing a few bits and pieces on the ship lately, Last week I made the jib boom, its just temporarily tied in place. Today I made the first set of four stanchions for the handrail on the fore top. I might need to make some sort of jig because they are a bit tricky to keep lined up properly during soldering using these alligator clips. I'm open to suggestions.

Nothing to suggest there Steve as it looks nigh on perfect just the way you have done it. Your jib boom and tops look great. Your rendition of Endeavour is brilliant.
