Picket boat No.1 problem with first few steps

Hi,

I am just starting to build this model, but i have a problem with the stern.

The plans, and the building guide, say that part 24, the support for bulkhead 18, should be glued to the main false keel part 19.

However, I can glue this piece aligned to the top of the keel, or to the bottom! There is at least 2mm difference. See photos.

Can anyone tell me which is more appropriate for this build.

Thanks

Paul

Was surfing MSW this evening and came across your post.   Kurt Van Dahm, the Chairman of the NRG wrote multi part article for ships in scale that appeared in 2013.  It is in four parts and begins in the Jan/Feb issue and concludes in the July/Aug issue.    It will be well worth your time to acquire these articles.

Paul:

Align it with the top edge as shown in the attached photo of the piece on the keel.  The other photo shows later construction - the lower surface is not important and the keel gets shaped to allow planks to lie flat over the keel.
