1/180 Airfix HMS Victory by Algie

Kit completed over a two year period. Discarded the infamous rigging machine and glued the shroud lines in place individually. Used some picture wire for the main and fore stays, added backstays to each mast and bobstays to the bowsprit.

Amazing work! Love the build and those are some great photos too. I usually build 1/350 modern warships, but my sister absolutely loves these old Ships of the line, and I would love to make her some models like this eventually. I think I'll do something more simple to start off (like the USS Constitution) before tackling the Victory. If And when that happens, may I look at your photos as a bit of a reference point?

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
