  1. IJN Yamato 1/1200 Revell kit

    My first build ever, as well as my first try in diorama. First picture is the actual historical photo (taken from Wikipedia) used as a reference for the diorama. I also put few pictures of the ship without "water". Paint job is done with simple, cheap brushes for the art class, nothing special. Feel free to comment and suggest improvements for future work.

  2. Russian Imperial Protected Cruiser, 1st rank, Aurora

    My second model built, Russian Imperial Protected Cruiser, 1st Rank, Aurora in 1/400 scale, kit by Maquette. I received this kit with some parts missing (like chimneys on cutters and one of the levers holding cutters, several guns were broken as well) which needed to be built from scratch, and near the end of the build (just before rigging) a huge battle with floor ensued, and the masts were the only casualties (luckily). Therefore they look rather childishly build on the photos with rigging present. This model is also painted with brushes. Feel free to comment and critique.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
