    I am passionate about art in all its forms and enjoy the creative freedom it offers. I love history, architecture, music, mythology, philosophy, reading factual material and writing poetry. I am very much a sportsman and enjoy football, boxing and partaking in most sports aswell as keeping in shape through exercise. I am also fascinated by the age of sail and its surrounding history. Period ships leave me in awe and I have a special interest in scale model making, my ultimate goal is to build plank on frame and have the ultimate admiration for the modellers who create these historically accurate models. Hms victory is of special interest to me and I am currently researching her construction particularly her appearance at the time of Trafalgar. I work as a self employed carpenter and love to work with wood and admire the skill, patience and creativity of the scale ship modeller.

    I can't wait to begin my latest build and my first build log, I am now a proud father to a beautiful son who as all of my attention he's fatherhood is amazing. I anticipate the start and am upgrading my workshop and purchasing plans whilst reading the many awesome logs of the craftsmen who post the work here.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
