  1. Its the HMS Ark Royal  1587

I think they still used the head of the vessel to relieve themselves or maybe a bucket, maybe they ran around with a pant load, who knows for sure. I've never had anyone say any of my builds looked like a floating crapper before but there's always a first time.

Nice try you salty ole dog.

  2. hey there Nils, this was my first scratch build galleon, there was a large learning curve applied to the technique required to pull it off. Hopefully not to badly for the experts to notice.  Really enjoyed the build.   The hardest thing to make were the triangle shaped deadeyes from scratch by hand . Have a great day! A.J.

  3. The kit is a model shipways New Bedford whale boat, the boat is 24 inches long 1/16 scale. The kit comes with the materials to build the whale boat only, the davit /crane I built from scratch according to the plans and instructions which come with the whale boat kit. I thought it was nice of model shipways to include those plans in the kit. Be sure your kit includes the book " To build a whale boat" by Eric A.R. Ronnberg Jr,

My kit was missing the book and I had to purchase it separately. The plans and instructions are very vague and I could not have done it without the book, too it was very informative on the history of the whaleboat which also helps to understand each area of the build. There is a reason for every part on the finished build. Good luck! A.J.

  4. I've had this kit for many years and only found a couple of images on line of your finished build capt. Rat Fink, thanks for uploading the build logs. I did not want to start another log for this kit because I wanted yours to be the primary source. Many thanks, a.j.
