  1. I've started work on the Bluejacket 310 destroyer. I am building her as USS Pillsbury DD-227. She was lost in the aftermath of Java during WWII with all hands. Taken by surprise, this aging destroyer nonetheless reacted valiantly, returning fire and launching torpedoes before being sunk by overwhelming IJN firepower. Bluejacket makes a great model. It does need some modification to resemble a late 1930s Asiatic fleet DD. I am representing DD227 between 1937 and Oct 1941 as that represents her most complete configuration prior to her collision with USS Peary. Many thanks to "rcweir" for his assistance and to my fiancee, Sarah, for tolerating my latest obsession. I am all ears for any critiques or suggestion for improvement. I am very much an amateur modeler.
  2. Does anyone have a recommendation for Vallejo paint colors to match US Navy #5 grey and #20 deck grey?
  3. Hi, I'm researching this specific type of model. They appear to have been built in the 1930s at the Cavite Navy Yard and sold as souvenirs to Asiatic Fleet (or visiting) destroyermen. Would love to see some more pics of your model and hear more about its history. I have three; USS Edsall, USS Melvin and USS John D. Ford.
  4. I'm currently somewhat deep into a rebuild of AL's older version of La Fayette's Hermione as an East India Company frigate. This is my first model whatsoever, so I have managed to run into many small dillemnas. One of these is the lack of any adequate hammock netting mesh. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a source? Regards, Mike
