Yes, I feel your pain...in 1970's , my first model was MS Swift..no internet or anyone to teach me..promptly took off tip of my finger with an exacto knife.. I'm 77 now and still modeling..the transition from plastic to wood is huge. There are many great forums out there..walk away from it,do some research , watch some videos and read some planking books You'll be fine..research is a big part of this hobby spent three days researching how to properly rig the capstan..I thought a messenger was someone who delivered a message..well not on a ship ..for me, planking is still a challenge..some people make it look easy..it's math and Mcgivering.. I still have the Swift and look at her as a learning curve.. I now scratchbuild Admiralty board models.. so don't give up.. !!
