  1. Here is everyone’s chance to be apart of history and help me identify the ship this 1819 Billet Head was originally from…

I recently acquired this Ship Billet Head and I am trying to see if it was from a US Cutter Service vessel or possibly a privateer. As model builders, I know you have researched in great detail various vessels of the past and perhaps someone will see this and help me identify which boat it came from.

    Some more details:
    Size: L 44” W 5”

It has exactly 13 stripes and 21 Stars. Looking up the flag records that would place it at 1819-1820. There is a very light blue behind the stars. I can also see remnants of gold leaf on the side carvings.  I’m speculating it’s from a revenue cutter or Brig IMG_0071.thumb.jpeg.e404ebd8fed7755a57d29af5108fe7a1.jpegas I have read they used the shield and billet at that time period to show American influence but haven’t seen any visual examples.

I would greatly appreciate any historical insights you might have on this piece or know who I can contact to learn its history. I’ve taken the diagram of the 1819 Cutter Louisiana and is proportionately identical.

And I’ve also found an example of a billet head with tail boards and it looks like mine originally had them to possible extend the side carving motif.

Apologize this isn’t a question about a model ship but if you help me identify it with a ship it will be a great addition to a model you could apply as it’s a real piece from that time period.
